Barclays bank PLC is an international organisation that has over 4,750 branches in over 50 countries across the globe. Barclays bank is headquartered in London and was ranked as at 2010 the tenth largest banking and financial services group in the world.
Barclays bank specialises in the global retail banking, the corporate banking, investment banking and wealth management banking. Barclays offers a large range of products and services to a set of targeted consumers. Thus Barclays has a product for international student. As the student market segment increases each year in September/October as the university term starts, Barclays has an opportunity to increase its customers and make more profit.
In order to create a new student account in the market Barclays conducted a market research to know what really attracted students to the bank and especially Barclays. The research result was as follows: Students wanted and often needed to own high-tech gadgets and electrical goods, such as laptops and smart phones. Students wanted to have separate accounts to manage their student borrowing and spending The incentives are expected to be part of any deal to attract students.
So this research will help create a new product for Barclays that will attract more customers and increase the growth of the market.
