They gouged Emmett's eye out, shot him in the head, and threw his body into the river. Once his body was found they had trouble identifying who it was. Once they identified the body, they confirmed it was Emmett Till. This whole case was an impetus to civil rights movement.
The challenges that Serling faced from advertisers and censors were that they would take a lot out of his films. In part 2 paragraph 12 it states,”Requiem was Sterling first real success through he felt stifled by the demands of censors and especially advertisers.” Censors would not allow Serling to do a film about Emmett Till because they thought it would offend other people. Sterling always had a moral in all films. He than found a solution, he kept making films on world events except he changed names and settings.
What was the reason Serling chose to write science-fiction and create his own TV show, he wanted to make or have a moral in his shows on real world events. In part 2 paragraph 4 it states “Using Science fiction to address his anger and confusion with real world events, Serling created moral and cautionary tales in half in hour installments.” I agree with his plan, it will be good. A lesson in every show will teach everyone who watches the show something.
