RE: Can I upgrade the office?
Hello Dr. Bernier, I am happy to help out with your question. From the information you have given me about the workstations, i’m sure that your machines meet the minimum requirements for a Windows 7 Professional install. Unfortunately, an upgrade from Windows XP to Windows 7 Professional isn’t possible without performing a clean install. Only a Windows Vista can be upgraded to Windows 7 Professional without having to back up data. Your workstation’s settings can be transferred using one of the Migration Tools, but all your personal files will have to be backed up onto some short of temporary medium. Then it can be loaded back onto the machines once the new OS has been installed. I do advise you to run Windows Upgrade Advisor just in case on all your workstations and any other machines you plan on upgrading in the future. The Windows Upgrade Advisor will alert you if any of your machines’ hardware isn’t compatible with Windows 7 Professional. But, since you are well aware of your workstation’s specs, I feel that I should go ahead and inform you of the minimum requirements needed for a Windows 7 Professional install. The minimum specs are: 1 GHz or faster 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor, 1 GB RAM (32 bit) or 2 GB RAM
(64 bit), 16 GB available HDD space (32 bit) or 20 GB (64 bit), DirectX 9 graphics with WDDM 1.0 or higher.
If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me. I am here to help.

RE: Can I upgrade the office?
Hi—
I heard from my friend, Bob S., that you have a great deal of knowledge about this, so I’m wondering if you will act as a consultant for me. I have a dental office in town, and we’re running eight Windows XP workstations and a single server running Windows Server 2003.
The person who installed this told me that the server is functioning as a domain controller and the eight
