Exercise
It is very important to exercise. Exercise is important because it can keep you in shape and will improve your health for the better. Many studies have shown that regular activities and exercise can improve overall health substantially. Exercise reduces the risk of heart disease, stroke, certain cancers, and high blood pressure. Exercise can also help you to maintain healthy bones, muscles, and joints. Along with physical activity comes weight loss. Weight loss can improve the mental well-being and boost the confidence of any particular person. Also, studies have shown that people who exercise on a regular basis tend to live longer than those who don't. Exercising includes walking, running, jogging, painting, biking, and there are plenty of other activities. My advice would be to pick something you enjoy doing and wouldn't mind doing on a regular basis and sticking to a schedule. You can even pick a few different activities to mix things up and keep it interesting. In weight training most people will work different muscle groups on different days in order to best work their body without over doing it. This also saves time during the day because instead of working out for 3-5 hours in one day you can workout for an hour a day 3-5 days a week. It spreads out the exercise so you don't get sick of it and dread going. Also, your body will respond better because you will not be putting too much stress on yourself. It is also wise to stretch before any physical activity. This is very important so that you do not pull or strain any muscles. Most importantly, to maintain a healthy body you must stay active. I currently workout four days a week. On Monday I train my chest and triceps. Tuesday I train my back and biceps. Wednesday I don’t train but will be incorporating some cardio on that day. Thursday I train my shoulders and trapezius muscles, and Friday I train my legs and abdominal muscles. I’ve been doing my own training program with exercises that I feel are helpful in helping me achieve my goals. Like many men, I train for muscular growth. I want to transform my body into its full potential. I do progressive overloads each week that I train. I noticed that I have been getting stronger week after week and my muscles look fuller. The body part that I feel is lagging are my legs. I don’t think they look bad at all but I feel as if they aren’t up to par with the rest of my body. I plan on gradually increasing the weight each week on my leg exercises and maintaining the same weight for my other body parts to give my legs time to catch up.

For some, daily exercise is no big deal. If you were to live on a farm and had to get up at 4 A.M. to start your chores: milk the cows, feed the horses and clean the hog pen you would have plenty of work. Though most people do not live on farms but in small towns or cities, so getting enough daily exercise may be a problem. Or if you are like many people and have a full, packed schedule you just do not have time to join that fitness club down the road. So you could choose to have an “at home” workout which could consist simply of push-ups, crunches, pull-ups and maybe some aerobics in the living room. Now to the others who may be interested in getting into some “serious” shape or others who have a fitness center down the road to join. But before joining you need to look the place over, see what kind of trainers they have on staff or if they have any. Also make sure they have the proper equipment needed to complete your workout. Once you have joined talk to one of trainers at the fitness center. These people are usually are certified and full of information you may need to get yourself on the right track. While you are there you could get in some weight training from free weights to machines, also get in your cardio-vascular training from the treadmill to stair stepper. Remember this is just a small part of your daily activities so do not overdo…

The main aim of the practical was to assess, what affects did light exercise have on the systolic and diastolic blood pressure, heart and respiration rate, tidal volume, minute volume and percentage of gas. The readings were taken before exercise, during exercise and after exercise. Blood pressure is defined as the amount of pressure exerted on the vessels walls, during blood flow. Blood pressure can be measured using a sphygmomanometer. The upper value indicates the systolic pressure; this is the highest level of pressure obtained. This is usually 120mm Hg in healthy adult. The diastolic blood pressure is the pressure achieved before the aortic valves reopen, which is usually between 70- 80mm (Barbara, J.C. 2005). The heart rate is the number of beats that is pumped by the heart per minute. It’s measured by taking the pulse rate. Respiratory rate is the number of breath exhaled and inhaled in a single breath. Respiratory rate can be measured simply by observing the person’s chest and stomach rise and fall. It is usually measured in breath per minute. Tidal volume is the amount of air inhaled or exhaled in a single breath. In an average human, the tidal volume is about 0.5litres, while the lungs can hold up to ten times more than this.
