People exercise for many reasons. For example, someone who is overweight may exercise to improve his health by losing weight. Others may exercise for appearance reasons, such as gaining muscle to attract people. Some may exercise just to stay healthy as a part of normal lifestyle. Still others may exercise due to the necessity to help fight off or control diseases such as diabetes or disease.
Take me for example. I exercise for my cardiac health. Exercise can cause noticeable effects on the heart. When you exercise your muscles, whether through strength training or aerobic exercise, you also exercise your heart, which is a muscle. Exercise strengthens the heart, allowing it to pump blood more easily through the body, which in turn reduces the pressure on the walls of your blood vessels, lowering your blood pressure. Exercise also has several other benefits on the heart, inclusive of increasing good HDL cholesterol levels, reducing bad LDL cholesterol levels and reducing the chances of infarction of blood vessels and hearts. All of these benefits contribute to preventing heart disease.
The other reason for exercise for me is mental health. Exercise distracts and relaxes me for a while. Because when we exercise, our body produces "feel-good" chemicals called endorphins, which can naturally help treat contributing factors to depression and anxiety, we will feel that after exercising, all the depression and anxiety of our lifestyle disappear or at least are forgotten for a while.
In conclusion, exercising is an activity that benefits our health. By exercising you can improve the function of your body, be calm in your mind, and have a healthier life. I think that another benefit of exercising is the satisfaction of doing something that helps us to live healthy. I hope that this idea can cause more people to think of exercise as a drug. Everyone should try it. Exercise, and be healthy.
