Insulated Concrete Forms
Insulating Concrete Form (ICF) are a system of formwork for reinforced concrete that stays in place as a permanent interior and exterior form for walls, floors, and roofs. The forms are interlocking linked units that are stacked without mortar and filled with concrete. The forms lock together somewhat like Lego bricks and serve to create a form for the structural walls or floors of a building. It is not like the traditional wooden forms that are erected before the construction and once the concrete has hardened they are then removed. ICF construction has become common for both low rise commercial and highly energy residential construction as more stern energy efficiency and natural disaster resistant building codes are adopted.
