Many interview questions can be perceived as unfair and illegal. Questions that should not be asked include: What years were you born or how old are you? Are you pregnant or plan on getting pregnant? Do you have children? Have you ever been to a psychologist or psychiatrist? Are you taking prescription drugs? There are many others. Some are obviously discriminatory, but others are harder to pick out. For example, you cannot ask a candidate if they have ever been arrested, but you can ask if they have been arrested for a felony in the past five years (Levy, 2013).…

Last summer, I had the opportunity to be referred to Ms. Sharon Goldmacher by my long time family friend, Ms. Judith Williams. While talking to Judith I was introduced to Ms. Sharon Goldmacher. She started a full-service marketing PR firm specializing in brand development, product launch campaigns, media relations, as well as providing marketing, PR, and promotion services. We have met once, however, I never go to formally speak with her. The interview is mandatory in order to get information for my Basic Marketing Management class, but I ended up learning so much more than what was required. As expected, it was a great opportunity…

1.2 There are various different ways I will prepare myself for the interview. The first thing I will do is to ensure I know the route to get there. I will look for routes that do not involve the motorway or busy roads as I am likely to get stuck in traffic. When I have figured out my route I will look at how long it took me to get there so I know how early to leave on the day. However, on the day I will leave earlier anyway to ensure I arrive early which gives a good impression.…
On a cold Sunday morning, I conducted a short clinical interview with my friend Matt who enthusiastically agreed to be my test subject. Matt is a third-year advertising major here at UT-Austin. Because he is enrolled in the Moody College of Communication, he has only taken basic science and mathematics classes for non-majors. The last math class he took was Calculus 408L (integral calculus) during his first year of college. I chose to give him the question that divides a fraction by a fraction (1/5 divided by 2/3) because I personally had a hard time justifying why dividing by a fraction meant multiplying by the reciprocal. Therefore I wanted to see how someone with a different mathematics…
