Explain How Sensory Processing Influence Early Childhood Development And Learning
Sensorimotor activities help with growth, development and learning. The sensory processing is the way a brain receives, organizes and responds to sensory input (anything perceived by using our senses). Sensory information is received thought either vision, hearing, smell, touch, behavior etc. The sensory system is composed of seven senses, it is important for all the seven senses to work together in order to have an effective sensory processing. The vision sense gives the ability to understand and interpret what we see. There are three aspects of vision, the eyes have the ability to see fine detail, color and depth perception. The auditory sense helps interpret information heard. The ears receive noise and sound information, like volume, tone, and rhythm. The third sense is the gustatory sense which is the ability to interpret information about taste in the mouth. The tongue receives the taste and is …show more content…
Children get familiarize with sounds that make up words and begin to figure out what different words mean. During early development stages a learning tool that help children ages 2+ years build their knowledge is the “personalized leapfrog my own leaptop alphabet and vocabulary learning”. This particular learning tool helps toddlers identify letters, the sound they make and also learn a word (animal, thing, fruit/vegetable, etc.) that begins with that particular letter. After evaluating the mini laptop for kids, it does not display any signs of possible safety hazards. The “reading flash cards” is a learning tool for children ages 4+ years, the cards display colorful illustrations or letters. Children are able to learn the letters that make up the alphabet, and also practice eye-hand coordination, letter-picture recognition and word-picture recognition. Children need to be careful when shuffling, or going over the letters/images of the flash cards to avoid the chance of a paper
