For example in the “David McMurray Lecture” there was a social change in gender relations. McMurray talked about how there women were scarce on the streets of Nador, Morocco. They would travel by car, or by alleys. Now women are protesting against male harassment, advocating for equal rights and are more seen on the streets. This has occurred due to migration of men to European countries for work and send remittances back home. While this has been resisted against by men who are still there, those who have left to Europe learned of new values that showed the power of women and have accepted this change. …show more content…
In the article “Neither here nor there: Mexican immigrant workers and the search for home”, Steve Striffler discusses how social change in California has changed labor migration destinations. Striffler talked about how Proposition 187, and the overpopulation of low wage workers have caused migrants to find other states to work in 675-676). Social change came from xenophobia, and high living costs in California. While there were those who resisted this change and wanted to live in California, stayed and other means of living. Others who resisted found other places to work and decided to accept the change that came. They found homes in Arkansas, the South and North
