➢ Two unavoidable factors are: 1- family history (the genes we inherit), and 2- age (getting older).
➢ Two avoidable factors are: 1- environmental influence such as carcinogen (any physical chemical) such as plastic bottled, and 2- increase in body weight.
➢ I have one unavoidable and avoidable factor. In my family, my mother has myeloma cancer that may increase my risk to get the cancer. In addition, the other risk I face everyday I drink water in plastic bottled and eat on plastic spoon. The risk of using plastic is the chemical on it, which leads to the cancer. On the other hand, I do not have issue with age factor since I am still young, and my weight is perfect. I can reduce those risks by trying to do examination on the hospital each six months or in case I feel any syndrome. Also, I can reduce usage of plastic bottled and spoon. Moreover, I do exercise everyday to keep my body from overweight. …show more content…
7-In 2010 the federal government imposed a “tanning tax” on tanning salons in an attempt to discourage their use.
Studies show there has been a decline in the use of tanning beds since then. Do you think such attempts to reduce the incidence of cancer are justified? Explain your viewpoint.
➢ In my opinion, tanning tax may slightly reduce using of tanning, and this solution can be improved if the government uses the tanning tax to aware people about the risk of using tan. In addition, I suggest the government create a policy to limit using of tan. In fact, the policy should not only limit the tan usage also the government should use this policy with all products may cause
cancer.
8-As environmental causes of cancer receive increasing attention; the warning labels on food have become longer and more ominous sounding. Since many factors contribute to cancer, do you think that expanding food warning labels is an effective approach to reducing cancer risk? If so, how might one combat the public’s tendency to ignore long and complex warning labels?
➢ In my opinion, the warning labels on food are not effective approach because I see many people still eat this kind of food from fast food restaurant. I agree it is a great idea to warn people about this risk of eating this food. However, people tend to ignore these warning labels. I think that some of them are written in very small font, so people do not pay attention to the label, or the message is written in indirect language. On the other hand, some people know about this warning labels and still eat this food, they seem do not care or do not believe this message. My suggestion for warning labels that these labels should be clear and use direct world and language, and nutrition and cancer organizations should aware people more about this risk of eating this food.
