During this stage the birth rates (CBR) has stayed consistent through stage two, however the death rates (CDR) has dramatically decreased. The decrease is due to the significant health improvements and advancements. The decreasing death rates (CDR) has also caused a population increase, due to people living longer due to the advancements in healthcare. Lastly, one thing that I have never thought about, would be sanitation. If there is a sanitation system put into place people will also have a longer life expectancy, due to a cleaner environment. During this stage the birth rate falls dramatically, while the death rate decreases but is still higher than the birth rate. When a country goes into stage five, this causes the total population starts to decline over time (a few generations). The reasoning behind this is due to the economy is the driving force behind people limiting family sizes and better understanding of contraception. The high price of raising a family puts a stop to child bearing, making the elderly population higher than the youthful population.
