Information systems are used by organisations to collect, store and process data. This can then be used by other departments to gain information on certain things. Information system is made up of 5 different features: Data, Hardware, People, Telecommunications and software.

Data
The data you collect must be as accurate as possible and stored. The data will then be recap to create information. This will then be used by the different functional departments. Functional departments of the organisation like the buying department who will use the information on stock levels and tries to determine what and how much of a product is needed.

A simply example of valid information would be as such: the information that you have you trust it and it could have be information supplied by the government tax office.
Data should be recorded, and used in compliance with relevant requirements, including the correct application of any rules.

Reliable information is information that you can rely on being correct, because it comes from an internal information source. Reliable information is information that is trustworthy and come from a reliable source.
