Data Protection Act 1998, this is to protect the information from companies. In this case is to protect the customers. Companies have to gather their information themselves and keep it a secret. They have to obtain the information lawfully. They also cannot sell or tell other companies the information they get from their customers. They can only use the information themselves. And if they done obey by those rules, they can get sued and have to pay a lot of money.
M2, Presenting examples in which the Legal issues has inflicted several businesses.
For example, a well-known example of a cartelisation in the Netherlands was called the 'building fraud' in the 90s.
Big companies made themselves mutual prohibited price fixing.
This way the contract giver paid too much for their construction contracts.
They also divided tasks among themselves.
This gave no chance for other companies to enter the same market.
Another example:
Dutch mobile operators KPN, Vodafone and T-Mobile made Price agreements for years.
According whistle-blowers, the telecom companies in the Netherlands where making agreements for years, they would stay in contact throughout alternating and unregistered prepaid cards and providers gave signals by saying certain code words in the media.
Beside that drinks, fairs and conferences where also relatively inconspicuous moments to define a common strategy.
