In these lines, we get the first glimpse of where the setting is. The readers get a chance to see the descriptive environment of Italy with the “pleasant garden”. We are also introduced to Lucentio and Tranio in this part of the play where they are visiting this part of Italy because they had that desire to go there.…
Marco general hatred of the world around compared to the other characters and his first discovery of the bomb and being basically one of the only characters to keep trying to escape mall, that makes me think that he the antagonist and the author is wants a big twist at the end of the book/books . The reader does not find out in this book that's why i'm excited for the future books to read and maybe find out who is our big bad wolf! Or maybe the author decides to include different point of views in the next books then maybe we could find the…

Flannery O’Connor, author of the short story “Revelation”, writes about characters that discover their world is not as they believe and that things are truly the opposite of how they appear. There are many moments of enlightenment in her story “Revelation”, as well as in the parable of the Prodigal Son. I will attempt to interpret this story as I think O’Connor would.…
A way Marco’s traits affect the story is how Marco is clever. Marco has a big reputation of being a street-smart person, and it definitely showed throughout the entire book. From using a baby monitor to spy on government officials, and to being the first citizen to escape the mall during the disease crisis, Marco is no amateur in having a plan for everything. His most iconic moment so far, however, is how he was able to hide from a swarm of police in the city without any sort of weapon or vehicle. It was his wits and quick-thinking that saved himself and Shay from being caught. Quotes to support this are on page 239: “I jumped down from the balcony onto the roof of the bank, and laid down, motioning for Shay to do the same. We were still unnoticed.” And on page 255: “‘How in the hell did you do that? Shay managed to get out as she tried to catch her breath. ‘Wherever you go, be aware of your surroundings. You most of the time won’t need it, but trust me, one time, you will.’” What this means is that if you replace Marco with your average human in a lot of these situations, and you will find yourself with a disaster of a plan. Without Marco’s intelligence, Shay and his friends would without a doubt be one of three things: dead, caught, or incredibly ill. His smarts…

October 16th was the opening night for a Carroll production of Romeo and Juliet. Many familiar faces around Carroll are involved with the shakespearian production and everything seems to be going smoothly. On Thursday night (the 15th), a dress rehearsal was given to an open audience and was very well received with seemingly everything going according to plan. However, behind the show are some interesting characters as well.…
As soon as the new year came into existence, I created a list of goals to complete in 2016, all of which I plan to complete with gusto (I love that word, it sounds so silly). One of those goals (#5 on my list actually) is to finally get my hands on a first edition of The Phantom of the Opera by Gaston Leroux and stare at it in wonder as if it were a fairy princess riding a unicorn into the sunset. I don't even have to purchase it, just hold it and touch it like it is a priceless treasure (which it is).…

William Shakespeare based his play Othello, published in 1603, on the short story Un Capitano Moro by Giraldi Cinthio, which was published in 1565. Even though the two stories have many similar points and aspects, they are quite different. The basic structure of the plot is almost the same in both stories; each author simply wrote in their own details. Both authors also had different writing styles. Cinthio chose not to name any of his characters except for Disdemona, and Shakespeare gave all of his characters actual names. Shakespeare mainly depended on indirect characterization. His characters expressed their true intentions through…
In Shakespeare’s Othello, A play about a group of military men and their families including their wife’s and their friends and family who are all connected to each other and the jealousy one has (Iago) of the Most important character (Othello) to tear Othello and his wife Desdemona apart in the hope to gain power with it .Shakespeare in this play uses trust/honesty to show the fault in humanity to believe in what they are told without proof that it is true. Shakespeare shows this trust and honesty through the interaction and relationships between Othello and Iago, Iago and Cassio, and the interaction between Brabantio and Iago/ Rodriego. This is not only shown as a hidden trust between two characters but also with the use of the word trust and honesty within the text.…

This analysis focuses mainly on techniques and devices used to achieve this and their effect.…
Throughout Romeo and Juliet, Shakespeare shows many examples of the main theme, forbidden love. In this story two feuding families, the Montagues and Capulets, each have a child who falls in love with the other. The young Juliet Capulet and Romeo Montague meet and fall in love at first sight. They know they cannot be together because of their names, and that is how the main theme, forbidden love, comes about.…
