Introduction-
There are many different types of ways of knowing such as language, sense perception, memory, imagination, emotion, faith, reason and intuition. The two different ways of knowing that I will be comparing in this essay are Intuition and Reason.
The definition for intuition “is the ability to understand something instinctively, without the need for conscious reasoning.” Whereas the definition for reason is“ defined as formal logic or knowledge that is gained through rationalism.” These two are very opposite to each other and each have different strengths and weaknesses.

However, to what degree is reason a reliable way of making decisions? As we all know, reason is very much based on logic as well as personal experiences.
Reasoning is done almost unconsciously, this means that people tend to use personal experiences as a way of making decisions. This can mean that people can be emotionally biased while doing so, which can sometimes effect on the wrong choice.
Weakness-2 (Intuition)
One of the very positive aspects of intuition is how you can make split second decisions without having to go through all possible outcomes. This can be seen as good and bad.
It may be perceived as positive due to the fact that it is not time consuming at all and generally gives out the best outcomes. However, if one doesn’t review all options then how can they be certain that it is the right call to make?
The reliability of intuition is also one that has two sides to it. Some one’s intuition depends solely on their past experiences and gained knowledge, which means that the reliability will vary from one person to another.
