As nurses move away from traditional subservient roles and perceived stereotypes it is increasingly being recognised that a nurse needs to behave in an assertive manner. Assertiveness means that you express yourself effectively and stand up for your point of view, while also respecting the rights and beliefs of others. (Study. Com, 2017).
Relate how they may be due to cultural influences, bias, or prejudices. They all are in the category together, people from different cultures communicate differently, and the differences in communication styles become major sources of misunderstanding, frustration, and conflict in interculturalcommunication. (Oxford Research Encyclopedia, 2017).
A culture outside of my own would be Muslims, the changes I can make to my behavior to support a therapeutic relationship with a client of that culture would be to asking about patients' religions, cultures, and ethnic customs so that I can help connect with patients so that, together, they can devise treatment plans that are consistent with the patients' values. Address patients' cultural values specifically in the context of their health care.
