1. What qualities do we see in George Murchison at the beginning of this scene that Beneatha might not like? Explain.
George Murchison is a man that does not like to talk a whole lot and hates the emotional aspects of a relationship. These are characteristics that Beneatha might not like, since she is a very social person that loves to converse about anything. Plus, Beneatha may not like that George is more concerned about how she looks rather than her personality.

Mama and Ruth roll their eyes before offering coffee to Mrs. Johnson because they knew she would gladly accept it. Plus, they were aggravated with Mrs. Johnson, since her intentions were not the greatest as she kept informing them about the dangers of living in a white neighborhood.

Yes, I believe that Walter’s drinking problem has gotten worse because of the many arguments that he has had with his family lately. His is very nervous about their financial state and his wife’s baby.

No, I do not think that Mrs. Younger made the right decision by giving the money to Walter because he will more than likely blow it on alcohol or starting a liquor store.
