Explain Why Is He Called The Misfit

Why is he called the misfit? His reasoning for calling himself the misfit is based on his encounter with the justice system. Supposedly, there were papers for his arrest-that he never saw-and then was told by the head doctor he killed his father. However, he claimed he had no recollection of such actions. He believes that actions are considered wrong only because other people say that they are wrong, and he must have done something bad because they have papers. He stated that he could not fit what he had done wrong, with the punishment he received in jail. At one point, he even refered his situation similar to Jesus, except that he, the Misfit, did commit some sort crime and once again just does not remember. His actions after his escape
from jail indicated that he has committed crimes in his past and precisely does not see them as being wrong, which is why he may see the punishment a misfit.

After reading A Good Man Is Hard to Find-a few times-there can be a few different ways of seeing the meaning. I did not think that there was anyone good in this short story. The mother was selfish and un concerning; the father really did not say a lot or do much except for giving into the kids by telling them to shut up; the kids were undisciplined, out of control, and showed a lack of respect for others. The grandmother- the most conniving of the family-was superficial, self-centered, and a liar, by not telling her family, they were at the wrong place and bringing her cat, which in turn caused their car accident. It was not until after their encounter with the misfit-that ended tragedy- that the dysfunctional family bonded together and the grandmother finally showed her affection.
