I have seen multiple opportunities in people life’s that have contributed to their success. I believe if people have the desire and heart to put them in this much hard work they will be able to skillful at it. Athletes have proved this theory to be true. A soccer player named Sergi Robert, from Barcelona, Spain has been one of many athletes that can prove Gladwell’s theory to be accurate. Since he was little boy he would always be watching soccer games and every opportunity he had to play with the much older soccer players he took it. Gladwell’s emphasizes how successful people have opportunities that sadly some don’t. Sergi Roberto started playing for a club named F.C Barcelona for younger kids. In a matter a time his opportunity to play at a young age with this club helped him move on to be with the more skillful soccer players. Eventually all those brutal soccer practices and games gave him the opportunity to practice. Now at the age of twenty one he plays for the team A soccer club Barcelona F.C one of the best soccer teams in the world. The 10,000 hour rule and he joining at the right time allowed Sergi Roberto to become successful soccer…
You must have passion in order to succeed. If success is to be yours, it will be yours while you are following your passion. You won’t succeed doing something you despise, you won’t even succeed doing something that you like doing, you will succeed when you do what you love, what you’re passionate about PERSERVANCE Perseverance was a big key to his success as an athlete. Michael Jordan didn't decide to play basketball until high school. After he got cut from the Varsity team his sophomore year the hard work really started.…
Life is about finding the right opportunities and taking them opportunities, ideas, thoughts, projects, without being afraid of failure and turning them into success, both in a big and small scale. Everyday opportunities arise leading you to be successful or unsuccessful and in the end it’s what you do with these opportunities. Some of these opportunities are small; doing homework, going to work, interacting with new people, while other opportunities are much bigger; having 18,000 boxes of wine, investing money in a new business, buying real-estate, ect.…

Growing up, I was never naturally athletic and very injury prone. Regardless of these issues, I always remained determined and strived to accomplish my goals. As I enter high school one of my main goals was to make the varsity tennis team. During my freshmen year I practiced every day for the first 3 months of school hoping that I could just make the team. Unfortunately I tore a ligament in my wrist for the second time which prevented me from practicing till right before the tennis season started. I ended barely making the JV team which was very disappointing, but it only motivated me for next year. In my heart I knew that I if I was determined enough I could play varsity next year on my own merit. As I progressed through the sophomore year,…

The majority of athletes think failing is not losing a game or missing a basket; however, a player has failed once they quit or give up. Learning from the mistakes made and improving yourself is what should be done instead. If someone were to never mess up, how would they ever improve? The world will not end if you don’t win a basketball game, for it’s an opportunity given to give it another go. By learning that at a young age through sports, kids can apply it to everyday life in their future careers. When the ones who grew up learning this lesson fail a test or don’t get the promotion at work, they will know the right way to handle…
Everyday people strive for perfection, but the truth is that no one will ever achieve it. Within every task, challenge or achievement, failure is present. Most fear the possibility of failure because weaknesses are brought out and people feel vulnerable. On the other hand I witnessed a learning aspect from failure, and have a new understanding of it. Varsity football was where I faced a large amount of failure, but in turn learned many lessons.…
First, the exceptionally talented young athletes should play professional sports early because not everyone has an exceptional talent in sports and professional sports need a long time of strict training. If a person has the talent, he should treasure the chance and make an early effort to do it. Liu Xiang, a well known world sprinter, had an exceptional talent in short-running and came to his instructor’s attention in 1990. After that, he made a lot of effort for 14 years special training. Finally, he won the world champion and broke the world record. In this duration, he had had to temporarily stop running several times and start to cure for his ankle. As with almost all of the people who need to face the difficulties before success, this was an ordeal for him and he succeeded to overcome it. After he retired, he decided to study in China, even though he gave up his education to become a champion, he still was able to get his education afterward. Anyway, it is only a matter of time. Everyone knows that knowledge is important for us. We should study all the time. He did not miss the opportunity to study. Exceptional talent is a treasure for a person, not only in sports. The earlier you find it, the more effort you can make for it. You will win yourself at the end.…
A key point to emphasize is that learning does not just apply to book knowledge, but also skills used in daily life or that are job related.…
People born with natural talent hardly ever face challenges regarding the category they are proficient in. Imagine an academically gifted child, who decides to learn how to play the cello. This child quickly becomes frustrated with the advanced techniques and skills they are required to learn but cannot grasp, and quits altogether. Nothing was learned from this failure, the child did not retain any information they were taught regarding the cello. In the first paragraph of “Adversity: An Opportunity to Choose Growth” a nonfiction article by Camille Preston, Ph.D, PCC, it asks the rhetorical question:”What will [someone] do to turn adversity into a learning opportunity?” Few people turn mistakes into opportunities to grow as a person. Instead, they turn from one thing to the next, giving up every time they fail. Isn’t it best for people to stick to what they’re good at, in order to avoid getting hurt? Of course, some people claim to be “untalented”, but everyone enjoys doing something important to them - perfect at it or not. Being content with life is the end goal, and if someone has failed often enough to be dissatisfied with their life, it was not a happy life they lived. To quote Thomas Edison: “Many of life’s failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.” Obviously, if someone does not succeed, they…
On the other side of the debate, some people argue that success needs the mental attitude. Apparently, the good mental attitude is one of the success factors. If an athlete has desire of win, he will spend more time to exercise himself to achieve success. Plenty of evidence has shown that sports need person have perseverance characters, which in turn proves that mental attitudes is important. For instance, a Marathon runner must have great fortitude to run such a long distance.…
Any type of sport is just not about winning or losing, but most of the time, factors like respect and sportsmanship is what makes a team successful. "Victory is remembered for at most two decades; an act of good sportsmanship is remembered for a lifetime" (Simon Nguyen). Sometimes, not being able to conduct good sportsmanship and respect among your own teammates and opponents is what ends a player’s career, as that is also what fans and others observe in players. These two major aspects of a sport should be followed in order to become successful.…
