The death and resurrection of Jesus Christ is significant for Christianity for many reasons. Christ 's death is evidence of God and His powers, it represents the idea that Christians can have forgiveness for their sins, guarantees eternal life, and proves his divinity. For these reasons, without the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, Christianity would not exist as these significant events make up the foundation of the Christian system.
Firstly, the resurrection of Jesus is evidence of God and His powers. Christians believe in the resurrection which means they believe in God. They believe that if God exists, and if He created the universe and has power over it, He has power to raise the dead. Christianity centres around faith and worship of God and the resurrection of Jesus Christ proved God 's immense power and hence strengthened his worthiness of worship. The historical death and resurrection of Jesus proved that only He who created life can resurrect it after death, only He can reverse the hideousness that is death itself, and only He can remove the sting that is death and the victory that is the grave’s. (1 Corinthians 15:54-55). Furthermore, the resurrection of Jesus Christ is evidence of the Trinity. The Trinity expresses the belief that God is one being made up of three distinct Persons who exist in co-equal spirit and co-eternal communion as the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
The doctrine or concept of the Trinity is central to most Christian denominations and faith groups. In resurrecting Jesus from the grave, God reminds all Christians of His absolute sovereignty over life and death. Secondly, Jesus Christ 's death and resurrection represents to Christianity that Christians can have forgiveness for their sins.
