Explain Why You Should Never Have For Granted
I believe that you should never take what you have for granted. Not even if everything is perfect, because it could change. In 2008, I was in kindergarten. My mom, grandma, and I were extremely close. Every Tuesday, Thursday, and weekends we would go to the mall and dinner. One day everything changed, on Halloween. My grandma was found in a dressing room and Catos. She was unconscious. Later, I found out she had a brain aneurysm. After two brain surgeries, a long road of recovery, she still isn't the Grammy I once knew. In this, I learned to never take anyone, or anything for granted.

Even to this day, I don't know how my grandma had so much love for someone who she could barely remember. Yet, since my grandma's condition was bad I naturally helped out my family with my great grandma. I would bring in and out sodas for her since she had a mad addiction to the fizzy drink, and sometimes I would bring her hot meals. Even though doing all of that was great, my favorite thing to do for her was to keep her company. On the most beautiful of days, we would go out and sit on the neon yellow swing set in front of our house in early afternoons when the leaves were turning a beautiful shade of brown and the weather was just the right temperature. The wind sang alluring songs in your ears as the branches of the lush trees danced to the melody. I can picture it just like it was yesterday. The pond next to us glimmered a light blue color as the swing squeaked in glee. She would sing the same tune each time and i would drift into a world of peace and tranquility where nothing else mattered at that moment. But as a little girl, I took those special moments for granted. I was too oblivious to know that good things don't last forever, they never…

I grew up in a single-parent household and my mother helped me to work hard in school and taught me the many ways to deal with making difficult decisions when need be. However, things became more difficult for both my mother and I when tragedy struck our family when I was nine. My sister was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer and this meant that I had to learn to cope and help my mother cope while also working hard in school. It…

One of many important roles that my mom plays in my life is that of a teacher and counselor. She has taught, and still teaches, about life and anything right and wrong in the world. An example would be that no matter how complicated something can get, never give up and walk away after the first try. Dale Carnegie, a famous writer and lecturer, once said; “Most of the things in the world have been accomplished by people who have kept on trying when there seemed to be no hope at all.” (Walter 1) Another would be just because you see someone do something that seems bad, but does not get in trouble, do not…

I remember before we left for vacation, my mom’s eyelashes started to grow back and she was so excited to go out and be able to buy mascara again. My mom fought her way through cancer and now she was able to start living her life normally again and that made me more happy than I had been that past year. My mom deserved that vacation more than anything, she was finally able to relax, be spoiled, and know that everything from there on out was going to be okay. Fast forward to the summer of 2014, my mom received her five years clear of cancer and strolled out of her doctor’s office to a round of applause by all the nurses who helped her win her fight. I remember that day smelled like the sunflowers my sisters and I had set on our dining room table for our mom to come home to. It was then that I realized I was given the best role model possible. I could not be more thankful to have a mother who is strong enough to beat cancer and a family who is there for each other no matter what. My family’s happiness and health will always come before anything else for me. My family values have been instilled in me ever since sixth grade, the year my life changed, and as long as I have the support of my family I will be able to take on anything that comes my…

Throughout my 13 years I have been through so far, I have thankfully not experienced losing someone really close to me, losing a prized possession, etc. Everyone hopes these things will never happen, but I know one day I will, even when trying to avoid them, it’s impossible. However, there was one moment that made me realize all the grateful things I already have around me. This day, was Thanksgiving day of 2012, in Central Park, Pasadena, when I was helping out at a little event for the homeless.…

One’s life may seem dull when favored by many but not by one’s family. A lazy man, not devoted to his family, who neglects his obligations, is selfish and cowardly. Life is short, even shorter and less rewarding when taken for granted. Living life as a pessimist leads one to such displeasure but living optimistically will guide one to happiness.…

I take many material things for granted that give me enjoyment such as my laptop, iPod, iPhone, my trainer, and a gym membership. I am thankful to have a great trainer and a gym membership so I can get big, bulky, lean, cut, in shape, and to get ready for my competition in May. Also, other thing that I can’t for granted is having my own car to drive to school and take out on the weekend to have some fun or hang out with friends. I am grateful for not having to work and have a job to help support my family. I am grateful for my mom because of all the things and work she does around the house and help out the family as much as she can. She keeps the family rolling/going and always remembers everything when everyone doesn’t have no idea about things. I am grateful for my dad and how much hard work he puts into his farm to give support and good living for the family. I help my mom and dad as much as I can because I will never be able to pay them back for all the things they have done for me. I try to help my family as much as possible to keep it going even when I like it or not. I am grateful to be an bodybuilder and other things I do because I am in good health/shape and be a normal…

“If you ever wonder why bad things happen to good people, it’s because God knows they’re capable of handling it.” Reading this quote makes me think of someone who was very special in my life, because she was able to handle things anyone else might think are unbearable. That person was my grandma Marilyn Doyle. She had many influences on me, a few are how she had such an open heart, was very accepting, and she was very confident in what she believed in. It’s incredibly difficult to put into words how much she really meant to me. She had a genuine smile, which flashes into my head every time I think of her. She was a very strong-willed, independent, and a loving person. Although I didn’t get to spend as much time with her as I would have liked to, I felt as though we had a very special relationship.…

    Taking things for granted

Growing up all through life you hear people constantly telling you not to take things in life for granted. I was told that quite often as a child but I usually let it go through one ear and out the other. One day I was faced with the tragic, unexpected death of my uncle and then everything began to set in. I unfortunately learned the hard way to never take the love and family that you have in your life for granted because all of that could be gone in a blink of an eye.…

I choose to believe that there is nothing more sacred or profound than this day. I choose to believe that there may be a thousand big moments embedded in this day, waiting to be discovered like tiny shards of gold. The big moments are the daily, tiny moments of courage and forgiveness and hope that we grab on to and extend to one another. That’s the drama of life, swirling all around us, and generally I don’t even see it, because I’m too busy waiting to become whatever it is I think I am about to become. The big moments are in every hour, every conversation, every meal, every meeting.…

My grandmother taught me how important it is to tolerate people and certain situations. She told me showing people respect will get you a long way in life, as well as seeking help in hard times and facing problems instead of running away from them. Because of this, I try to see the good in people and over look the bad. When I have a problem I think of ways to solve it. When I cannot find a solution I ask for help before things get worse.…
