Please accept my resume for the open position. I am confident that my background and skills in research techniques will prove to be an effective match for your qualifications.
My Bachelor of Science degree is from the University of Pittsburgh. As my resume indicates, I have a great deal of laboratory experience in Chemistry and Biology, both indoors and in the field. The Chemistry laboratory techniques I conducted included: preparation of esters and synthesis of various polymers and distillations. I am also familiar with HPLC testing and QC procedures.
In my time with Ferro Corporation I was the QC chemist for a multimillion dollars customer. I was responsible for the production of several different glass and automotive coatings. I was able to decrease the time it took to make products, which saved the company both time and money. I also saved the company approximately 200,000 dollars by establishing a rework group. The primary responsibility of this group was to reuse both old and unsatisfactory material and convert the products into useable product.
PPG afforded me the opportunity of work in a research and development environment. The main objective at PPG, included developing a Chemical Agent Resistant Coating for grenades for the United States Army. The coating, as well as being chemically resistant, had to have a good gripping surface on it to allow for a safer release of the grenade. In addition to my laboratory experience, my background as a medic and officer in the Army for almost 10 years has allowed me to participate in a team atmosphere and to work under pressure. The Military has taught me how to allocate personnel to get a job done in a timely and safe manner. The United States Army also prepared me for a disciplined, secure work environment and the challenges associated with unexpected events.
My above experiences have been positive ones due in part to my interpersonal skills. I perform
