I have chosen the constellation Cassiopeia: The Seated Queen. I chose this constellation because it was an unknown constellation to me until I studied the first lesson of Astronomy. The name Cassiopeia: The Seated Queen sparked my interest, and so I decided to find more information about this fascinating constellation. Cassiopeia is located in the Northern sky and is easily recognizable by its distinctive "M" shape. It is made up of five stars, the four brightest of which are: Alpha Cassiopeia, Beta Cassiopeia, Gamma Cassiopeia, and Delta Cassiopeia. It is bordered by Andromeda to the south, Perseus to the southeast, and Cepheus to the north. It is opposite the Big Dipper.…
Have you been treated badly because you are different from other people? The House of the Scorpion, written by Nancy Farmer, is about a boy, Matt, who gets treated differently because he is a clone. In my opinion, the theme is that don’t treat other people badly because they are different compared to you. Evidence from the book has Rosa treating Matt like an animal, the priest not allowing Matt in church because he’s a clone, and the gardeners building barriers and filling sawdust in his cell. Furthermore, there will be details explaining the evidence and it will be supporting the theme.…
In Imperial Spain, J.H. Elliot examines the history of early modern Spain from the reign of the Catholic Monarchs, Isabella and Ferdinand, to the reformation of the Spanish government by the first member of the Bourbon dynasty. According to the author, at the start of the 15th century, Spain was internally weak, hopelessly divided and isolated from the continent by the Pyrenees. Yet, by 1492, Spanish society experienced a tremendous transformation which allowed Isabella and Ferdinand to unify the country, secure the largest transoceanic empire the world has ever known, and for a few decades become the strongest nation in all of Europe. Unfortunately, Elliot asserts, whatever dynamism animated this miraculous ascendancy did not last very long and Spain became once again a second or third-rate nation. The personal rule of the Catholic Monarchs, Elliot argues, is what made Spain a dominant world power; when the Habsburg dynasty ascended to the throne, their cosmopolitan imperialism led them to neglect the nation that Isabella and Ferdinand had begun to create and led to the decline of Spanish power at home and abroad.…

My favorite animals are owls and wolves. So, when I found that there were no constellations of owls (there should be, though, in my opinion), I chose the constellation of the wolf, or Lupus. This constellation also reminds me of Professor Lupin, who was also my favorite Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher in the Harry Potter books. I think that J. K. Rowling intended that to be, since Lupus means Wolf in Latin. Lupus can be found between the constellations of Centaurus and Scorpius. The Lupus constellation is home to some remains of a supernova, some globular clusters, and the Retina Nebula. It also contains two stars that have planets.…

“I had to get away from T.Ray, who was probably on his way back this minute to do Lord-knows-what to me.”(Kidd 41). Lily Owens, the main character of Sue Monk Kidd’s novel, The Secret Life of Bees, constantly lives in fear of her father’s temper has to take her wellbeing into her own hands when his temper gets too much for Lily to handle. She was living in an abusive relationship with her father T. Ray, until she runs away and finds safe haven with a family her deceased mother once knew, The Boatwrights. The open jar shows the theme of “saving yourself from unwanted situations” that is strewn throughout the book The Secret Life of Bees when Lily has to save herself from an abusive kinship, and decides to find a loving…
The constellation I've chosen is Andromeda, "The Chained One". This was the first constellation pointed out to me when i was younger and my father was teaching me Greek Myths. He loved the Greco-Roman Civilizations, and taught me everything he knew about them. Andromeda was discovered by Ptolemy, and contains the Andromeda Galaxy.…
The constellation I've chosen is Orion. I have chose this constellation because it's one of the most ancian constellation. Many civilizations do loved Orion because it symbolized a sheep for the Sumerians, a Osiris' offering for Egyptians or a zodiac sign for the Chinese. Orion history and mythology is very expended. Because of it visibility which is very good, Orion is a very popular constellation.…

The term extraordinary can apply to many things. The definition of extraordinary is an object that is “very unusual and deserving attention”. The House of the Scorpion deserves to be called extraordinary because it spins a masterful literary web that will not set you free until you finish the last page with a satisfied sigh. Because of the moralistic issues she cunningly weaves into the book, the excellent literary language, and her cautionary take on the future, Farmer will never disappoint her readers as she spins her dispute between right and wrong.…
Hadar, also known as Beta Centauri, is the 10th brightest stars (11th as viewed from Earth). Hadar is a blue-white super giant in the constellation Centaurus (Cen). In about 4,000 years, the motion of Alpha Centauri, who's proper name is Rigel Kentaurus, will carry it close enough to Hadar that they will appear to be a magnificent double star. Because of the distance away from Earth that Alpha and Beta Centauri are (approximately 90 parsecs), they will be an optical double. As they sit today, the two stars look like a pair of eyes, the right one being Hadar and the left being Rigel Kentaurus. These two stars are considered pointer stars. A "pointer star" is a star that points towards the Southern Cross. Some of the Australian aboriginals call this pair "The two men that once were lions". Other aboriginals consider them to be the twins that created the world." Hadar is a proper name of unknown meaning, and has been paired with the name "Wezen," the two applied to the two bright stars in Centaurus as well as to stars in Columba, "Wezen" now commonly used for Delta Canis Majoris. Hadar, less often known as Agena (from the "knee" of the Centaur), is quite the magnificent star.…

In modern astronomy, a constellation is an internationally defined area of the celestial sphere. These areas are grouped aroundasterisms (which themselves are generally referred to in non-technical language as "constellations"), which are patterns formed by prominent stars within apparent proximity to one another on Earth's night sky.…
