Expository Writing Gay Marriage Helps Children
Thesis: Dale Carpenter argues in hist article “Gay Marriage Helps Children” that the competence argument is factually unsupported and contrived by the laws of every state and that the optimality argument is irrelevant regardless if it is correct or not.
The Competence Argument A. Children raised by gay parents are at a Higher risk emotionally and cognitively. B. Children raised by gay parents are more apt to be confused about their sexual gender identity. C. Children raised by gay parents are more likely to be molested.

Benefits to Marriage for children A. Married households 1. On average they are happier and healthier. 2. Also they are wealthier because they receive social and legal support that a marriage provides. B. No good comparing children raised in house holds with children raised by same sex couples. 1. Gay Marriage is for bidden. 2. There is no study comparing children raised by opposite sex married couples compared to children raised in same sex married couples.
VI. Argument of Child Rearing A. There are opposite sex married couples who do not have children, this counter acts the argument of child rearing. B. The purpose of marriage is not just for the sake of children.
VII. No Shortage of Children A. Gay and lesbian couples will not take children from mothers and fathers. 1. States allow sub optimal parenting by single (Gay and Straight) and unmarried couples. 2. Sub optimal arrangements are better than orphanages and foster care. B. There is no shortage of children in the country. 1.
