Gilbert Cruz, a reporter from Time magazine notes, “Educators have been eyeing more class time for Decades.”(2). Adding more time allows the students more one on one time with the teacher and it allows more time for study halls.

Extending school hours and the number of days might also help decrease the teen crime rate. A lot of teens get in trouble during and after school hours when adults are at work. Therefore, not having any adult supervision teen crimes seem to occur in between the morning, late afternoon and during the summer. I think schools need to incorporate more courses into the curriculum. By, adding a debate club, drama class, or theater to the curriculum it would encourage them to want to learn more in school, and students won’t have that lapse time in between school and when their parents get off work to get in trouble or hang out with peer pressuring friends. By adding these courses students will be exposed to more positive peers.. Keeping students in school about two hours extra a day will keep them off the street and in the house with an overwhelming amount of school

Schools shouldn’t start at later times. Schools shouldn’t do this because it would push back practice for school sports, parents would have a difficult time getting to work on time, and it’s harder for students to get home safely. If schools start later, students will not have enough time for homework or projects to finish. If they don’t, they’ll have a good amount of time to finish it. Yes, students will get more sleep if school does start later but keeping it the way it is had good reasons why it shouldn’t be pushed back.…

Teenagers are often given a bad reputation because they are seen as irritable, uncooperative, and irresponsible. Adults tend to complain about their children never waking up on time, but little do they know that their adolescent children have different sleeping patterns that enables them to stay up late, and arise late. High school students experience enough stress considering their homework load, and they also suffer the hardships of waking up remarkably early in the morning for school. Be that as it may, adolescents still have to discern how to wake up early to be prepared for adulthood, but at this moment, their bodies are not primed for the early mornings such as adults are. Contrary to the current law, schools should begin subsequently to the prevailing early mornings because the untimely school starts result in negative health effects, increased safety risks, and poor academic performance.…
