The forces within the general environment, including politico legal, economic, technological, socio cultural and international forces, have a broad general impact on the organization. Although these forces do not always have a direct influence on the organization's daily activities, they are important.
Today eBay users can bid anything from office equipment’s to real estate to cars. It is surprisingly true but perplexing that “Why has eBay prevailed, but others have failed?” Though many of its successes resulted from its adaptive approach, eBay’s accomplishments can also be explained by the company’s consistent focus on two long-term goals that is “becoming the world’s largest consumer to consumer online auction house and building out each of the five core strategies”. An analysis into these strategies reveal that eBay has applied sound strategic management as adopted from Porter and other Management experts .Its whole business revolves around creating an environment where everyone can come and transact without any second thought of being cheated or misguided in any form

EBay Inc. Is one of the leading internet companies in the world. Founded in 1995 by French Iranian Pierre Omidyar, eBay is employing more than 15500 people while generating total revenue of 11.65 billion dollars as of 2011 (eBay Inc 2011 Results). The company was founded in San Jose, California with a vision of connecting people rather then sells them goods. The company has now about a billion registered users and is the most popular shopping site on the Internet.
EBay’s mission is to provide a global and economic segment platform where practically anyone can trade
