This led Wylit to take revenge and make Evangeline suffer because of her ancestors but on the other hand before Evangeline’s entire family had died, she was sworn by Riley as a vassal. Therefore, because of this a huge conflict arose between Riley and Wylit.
Due to the problem between Riley and Wylit on Evangeline, the main character, Jax, who was (an orphan transitioner in Riley’s custody ) and Evangeline get kidnapped by the people of Wylit.
Wylit and his members put a false alarm to make Riley go away from where Evangeline was, so it would have been easy for them to kidnap her and take her to Wylit but during that very moment, Jax was with Evangeline. They were together talking about where Riley was gone and why. Few moments later, Wylits members show up to where they both were, drag them and put them in a coffin separately. Evangeline was important to Wylit because her blood would only make his dreams come true, as stated on page 275 “This is the blood of direct descendant...the power of [the] blood...will swell until it consumes all time on earth. The eight day will be the only …show more content…
day.”
Riley was Evangeline’s vassal and had to protect her as much as he could, even if he had to give his entire life up.
After Jax, Riley, their friends and Evangeline get caught, they were all devastated and had nothing else to do but Evangeline has casted a spell towards Wylit which led Jax, Riley and one of his friend Tegan free. This led all of them to attack to the Wylit people and trap them. One of Riley’s friend takes Evangeline to a safe place as she was super important for them. Riley even gets engaged to a powerful clan to save both Evangeline and Jax from Wylit,“I’m engaged...to rescue Jax and Evangeline.” Riley then shoots Wylit when he was chanting the spell and bullying the sky to follow his rules. Later, Wylit dies.
The conflict between these two, Riley and Wylit, on Evangeline is very important to the book. Riley was an 18 year old guy who had tattoos all over his arms and was a guardian of a 12 year old boy, Jax. He was a vassal of the girl who lived next door and was extremely powerful, her name was Evangeline. Vassal had to protect whoever they had sworn. But on the other hand, Wylit, the evil side, was looking for Evangeline and wanted to use her blood to make his dream come true. Due to that the only choices Riley had was to protect Evangeline and fight Wylit no matter what, even if he had to
die.
This really impacts the story because for Jax, Riley was a like an irresponsible teenager, who barely even did anything but toward the end of the book Riley turns out to be like a role model to Jax. When I first read the book, I couldn’t really understand what was happening and who the Kin or the Transitioners were but the author adds a descriptive picture related to kins, transitioners and other groups on page 120/121. The conflict resolves when Riley shoots Wylit and he dies. However, there are many other conflicts that arise later in the series of the book. Overall, it was a really good book.
