1) When James White said “this is one of those pivotal moments in human history, it is too important for us to continue to ignore it”, he was referring to something bad occurring and us humans not realizing it until it’s too late. Just like many other moments in history we don’t care about certain things unless it impacts us directly. Well global warming and climate change is real and that’s what he’s trying to get across. The climate of the planet is rising as well as the sea level and this means trouble for everyone across the world. However, White did mention one part of the world that would be impacted the most and that would be Asia because the people over there rely heavily on water from Himalayan
glaciers. White tries to get us to think very careful about climate change and the harmful effects that would occur if we humans continue to pollute the environment.
2) There are a number of things that I can do to be a more responsible global citizen such as starting to use a bike to get to school instead of using a car that runs off of gasoline, using much less electricity, turning off water when not in use, eating organic food, recycling and so much more.
3) Current and future governments of the world should stop the promotion and use of fossil fuels because it known that fossil fuels contribute to and is responsible for global warming. Another contribution to climate change is fracking. Governments should not allow fracking to be done because it pollutes our environment with Methane and other toxic chemicals. Fracking is also said to cause earthquakes. Another thing that government’s can do is taxing carbon. However, one major issue going on right now is whether the Keystone XL oil pipeline should be continued or stopped in it’s tracks. I believe we should not allow it to continue because it is running through sacred Native American land, can pollute clean water if any of the pipes break, and the continuation of fossil fuels must be stopped if we want aa safer and healthier planet.
