The fire inspection was conducted in Harman barracks on the Light Aid Detachment building (LAD). The building consists of 3 buildings that are adjoined; the main building is centrally positioned between two garages, all were built in the 1970’s. The main building holds the reception area, kitchen and two offices where administrational work is conducted. There is a designated safe gas cylinder area adjacent to the building with adequate ventilation and signage emphasising the risks. Policy’s explain that gas cylinders should not be left untended unless in the safe storage area.
There is a no smoking policy on site.

There is a designated area to store armoured tracks. Current policy says keep all fire exits clear from obstruction. There are other fire exit doors in the garages which personnel can use which are clearly visible safe routes have been painted by luminous paint aiding personnel to fire exits.
(20) A number of fire door were left open throughout the building, risk of fire and smoke spreading.
Fire resistant doors fitted throughout, offering resistance to fire spread when closed. A up to date, fire action notice was displayed near the main entrance explaining, what personnel should do in the event of a fire, there were also adequate emergency signs in place aiding personnel to the assembly
