What factors are most influential in shaping a person’s identity?
Factors that are most influential in shaping a person’s identity are one’s self-respect, one’s self-perception and the decisions one makes. Having self-respect on the decisions you make, having an awareness of the characteristics that make you, who you are and being confident in who are, are most influence in shaping your identity. Identity means, the fact of being who a person is. These are any traits, that you think define you. Whether these traits are bad or good, all depend on you and the decisions you make. So having self-respect on the decisions you make, and never regretting them, have an impact on your identity. Having an awareness regrading everything you do, has an impact on your own self-perception, and will define who you are. The decisions you make, are most influential in your identity, because what you make of a situation, and how the decision you make, affects whether you made the situation worst or better, is how you think, and how you think is your identity. How these factors are most influential, I will explain, throughout my essay. Chose to be different, to be who you are and not what society wants you to be. Make the decision, which no one else should have, an influence on. The decisions you make are what identifies yourself. The theme to “From Self-Reliance” is to go against on how society wants you to be, to be different and be misunderstood, and to work hard, then you will go a long way in life. “Speak what you think now in hard words, and tomorrow speak what tomorrow thinks in hard words again, though it contradict everything you said today-(“Ah, so you shall be sure to be misunderstood”)” The reading from, “From Self-Reliance”.
