germline susceptibility markers.
Since November 2013, Dr. XXX has submitted two new grant applications for internal funding. One regarding universal screening for Lynch Syndrome and one web-based outreach, have been successfully funded as a part of the MDA colorectal moonshot. A 3rd grant application was submitted to CPRIT but not funded.
Collaborative relationships: Dr.
XXX fosters team science and has multiple collaborations with large established research groups as well as faculty members of the department. Her primary mentor and collaborator has been Dr. XXX. She assists him in specifically collaborated studies examining differences in cancer susceptibility across different ethnic backgrounds; and the GAME-ON study which focuses on different cancer types. Her collaborations with other faculty members of the GI department has spanned across a variety of topics. XXX serves as a mentor to summer research interns through the Department of Cancer Prevention. She formerly had a formal teaching role at the UT School of Public Health (course hour 3.0) although this involvement terminated in 2013.
Service and other activities
Dr. XXX has served as a member of the Faculty Senate Academic Advisory Committee since 2013. She also serves on the Division of Internal Medicine Research Committee and the Tissue Bank committee of the Department of Gastroenterology.
She is an ad hoc reviewer for 11 journals. She also is a member of multiple national organizations such as AAAS, AACR, and ASHG, where she has presented abstracts.
Overview and recommendations
Dr. XXX has been active in her research. She has predominantly worked with Dr. XXX, Professor in the Department of Gastroenterology. She has worked with Dr. XXX to develop an electronic family outreach program, as well as a public health approach to identifying patients with hereditary cancer syndromes. She also has built collaborative research with other members of the Department as well as researchers outside of the institution. These research areas have bridged over a wide range of
fields.
Dr. XXX’s experience would be strengthened by more evidence toward independent investigations or scholarships. This could be demonstrated by more publications, particularly those as first or corresponding author, and more funding applications where she is responsible for designing the question to be investigated and the methodology employed. She may benefit from having a fruitful focus to her research program, and from identifying a disease site from which she can continue to build upon her existing publications, particularly those in high impact journals (for example, GAME-ON project). Her service within MDACC committees is satisfactory. As a research faculty, she might also increase in her teaching role in terms of more formal lecturing and other committee activities.
