Introduction: The author of the book Fahrenheit 451 is Ray Bradbury. The setting is in the 24th Century and the point of view for this book is 3rd Person Limited. Body: The title relates to the book because Fahrenheit 451 is the temperature at which book paper ignites. Three major characters: Guy Montag- Is a protagonist that takes great joy in his work as being a fireman. He thinks that books will fill the empty void in his life. He encountered Faber at a park and soon seeks him out in need of guidance. Faber- A coward that waits for a rebellion. Faber was an english professor before books were banned. He encountered Montag a year before at a park, but they cross paths again when Montag calls and meets faber at his home holding the Bible. Captain Beatty- Perceptive, cunning, and devious. Theme - Technology. My idea behind the theme is that technology is being used to manipulate the views of the society. 3. Important quotes: ‘“Will you turn the parlour off?” “That's my family.”’(1.46 )Family has no more meaning and significance. “..It would be easy for someone to set up a partial combination on the hounds ‘memory’..”(1.24) The technology is so advanced that it has the power to show human emotions. “..But who has ever torn himself from the claw that encloses you when you drop a seed in a TV parlour?It grows into any shape it wishes!..’” (2.80) The TV parlours are overwhelming but it can’t connect physically. My opinion: The book was very shocking. Ranging from the attempted suicide of Millie to the death of Clarisse and Beatty.
