In Mizuko Ito Et Al’s article “new media allow for a degree of freedom and autonomy for youth that is less apparent in a classroom setting” I believe that with the use of technology we can do anything we put our minds to. The technology allows for people who can not go to school or can not afford it, can go somewhere else to get that information. It also allows to give feedback and opinions on topics that might benefit others. I believe there will not be a need from a classroom and a teacher. The information will be on the internet. It is like in Fahrenheit 451, the characters are told information only by technology. In Fahrenheit 451, they burn books because they have knowledge. You can also get knowledge whether it is from a person or a book. The knowledge can be given to us on technology or taken away like in Fahrenheit 451. …show more content…
In the article “shelved” The guy is sitting in a chair with a laptop, behind him there is a shelf of books.
This picture might portray that he is lazy and just rely on technology. The way I portray the cartoon is that he rather use the technology to get faster results. The books are a useful source just as a laptop would be. The book can be burned just like in Fahrenheit 451. But you can always rely on technology to give you some source of knowledge and information. The books are on the shelf waiting to be use, but the books alternately become the laptop. The laptop is like a book for online
learning.
In the article, the Dumbest Generation, “The mind should be profit alongside the youthful ego, the thirst for knowledge satisfied as much as the craving for fun and status.” this quote explains that the mind craves fun and status but needs to crave knowledge. Who says that this generation does not want to learn. But using technology can help you learn more about the things that you do on the computer. For example, a 17 year old who plays video games everyday on the computer. He loves the way the game is designed, the effects of the game. The use of technology might someday inspire him to be a game programer. The thirst for knowledge should be in something that you are devoted to. It does not mean that we don't use the knowledge, it is about the topic of the knowledge.
In the article, The dumbest Generation? Don't be dumb, her article is about how the technology can be use for our minds. Ken Kiosk from the University of California says “but they're definitely changing how people’s’ brains process information.” So the use of technology can be a good or bad effect on us. “We are gradually changing from a nation of callused hands to a nation of agile brains” this quote means that we were once attentive to a specific topic. But because of the technology this generation has created, the knowledge has spread. Also political and economically opportunities are created for everyone to utilize. overall, Technology has it pros and cons just like any questionable material or science there is.
So I conclude with that Our Generation is not the dumbest. we can make this technology devices that help our knowledge grow and the future be better.
