Fahrenheit 451 Quotes I Am A Coward
Quote 1: “I am a coward.” This quote was spoken by Faber when Montag arrived at his house with the Bible. Faber said this because he wanted to express his guilt to Montag that he recognized the unfairness of society, but did nothing in order to save himself. The quote is important because it shows that Faber is ashamed of his inability to act against society. The quote shows the reader that society is unforgiving and can even cause revolutionary thinkers like Faber to cower down in fear. Later in the book, Faber says that when the structure was set to burn books, he grunted a few times and subsided, for there were no others grunting with him. This shows the reader that if Faber had support, he might be willing to work with that person to rebel against society. Faber also explains that in the years he lived alone, he invented a green metal object that acts as a radio receiver and waited for someone to …show more content…
Granger and Montag survived in the safety of the land across the river. After the shockwave, Granger was telling Montag about his group’s idea for the future of society. Granger said this because he wanted to make a point that society has become ignorant and shallow. Granger hopes that his group will act as a “mirror,” and help people learn from their mistakes in the past. Instead of promoting happiness by means of instant pleasure, Granger intends to promote it by way of free thought and books. The quote is important because it represents the plan which could help shape the future in this society. The quote shows the reader that when people with access to free thought and books come together, they can create a group that is motivated to make life better for all individuals. The quote also shows the reader that the group is keeping their promise that the new civilization that rebuilds will learn from past mistakes and create something better than the last

In “Fahrenheit 451” by Ray Bradbury, Guy Montag shows a lot of bravery in what he does. Not only does he show bravery, but his wife shows weakness in the story. I think that this is a good novel, because Guy and his wife, Mildred, show certain feelings in the book and it shows that everything isn’t always going to be perfect.…

In fact, many young adults tend to resist gaining knowledge and would rather entertain themselves with games, television or partying. However, authors Ray Bradbury and Stephen Vincent Benet would pity their indifference. In science fiction story, Fahrenheit 451, Bradbury tells the story of Guy Montag whose search for meaning and knowledge leads him to make difficult decisions throughout his journey. In “By the Waters of Babylon” a science fiction story, a boy, John, discovers the truth while on a journey to become a man. Both stories teach an important lesson about gaining knowledge, that it cannot be gained passively-it requires sacrifice.…

Bradbury explores the idea of ignorance and its possible consequences in his novel, "Fahrenheit 451". To emphasize the theme of ignorance versus knowledge, the writer points out how Bradbury fuses this notion with conformity. These two themes operate together to illustrate how society can be manipulated into becoming passive to the point of stupidity. It explains how Bradbury utilizes symbols of mirrors and fire to prompt Montag's character into becoming something other than a mindless drone. With the imagery of his hands, Bradbury illustrates how Montag develops throughout the course of the novel. The writer concludes how, through symbolism and imagery, Bradbury illustrates how Montag's fight against the system proves to be an enlightening…

So he contacted an old man he met awhile ago that he suspected of storing books in his house which would be illegal. The old man ended up being a retired English professor named Faber who gave his three things that are missing in their society. The first reason he gave to Montag he stated books “...show the pores in the face of life”, and that statement shows that people don’t like literature because shows the bad qualities of humans (Bradbury 83). The second reason is that people can be convinced of something because they don’t have the “leisure to digest it”, or time to think of something deeply so they believe the first thing that is said is true (Bradbury 85). The last reason was “the right to carry out actions based on what we learn from the interaction of the first two” (Bradbury 85). All of these missing things can make people believe the world is a perfect place and everyone is happy. Life needs imperfection, and if we think we know everything we would believe everything is just…

His description of books helps to show Montag that books truly do have meaning behind them and can reveal the reality of human imperfections. Faber encourages Montag’s growing interest in books to continue by agreeing to help him get copies made of his book. They also agree to keep continuous communication between the two of them from then on with an ear…
