The Dark Romantic era was a period in which writing made a vast adjustment to the way literature during this time was displayed. Poe’s poem, The Fall of the House of Usher, deeply represents this change and states “...A striking similitude between the brother and sister now first arrested my attention…[they] had been twins…[they] entombed the lady...the mockery of the faint blush upon the bosom and the face, and the suspiciously lingering smile upon the lip…” (Poe 305). Due to the progression of literature during the Dark Romantic period, Poe took caliginous approaches in all of his writing. Without the Dark Romantic era most, or possibly all, of Poe’s writings wouldn’t be the same
