Their first show was in the cafeteria of the DePaul University, with John Flamandan on the guitar and Ben Rose on the drums, which did not end well. They continued to try to make the band work as Wentz and Stump argued over band names, and trying to fill people in the vacant positions, they settled on creating a list of names and had their friends chose which one their friends liked best. The friends chose the name Fall Out Boy, which was from The Simpsons. In 2002, the band released their debut mini-LP named Evening Out with Your Girlfriend, however the album was low budget and rushed, leaving all the members dissatisfied with it (Futterman, E.). Later on, Andy Hurley, who played in the band The Damned Things with Joe Trohman, Racetraitor, and Arma Angelus, became the drummer permanently for the band. Music is important for many people; it often enhances their lives and gives them something to look forward too. Music can also bring different groups of people together and friendships can grow. In 3rd grade, I started listening to bands such as My Chemical Romance, Fall Out Boy, and Blink-182 because my older brother was listening to them at that time. When I first started listening to the music, I just liked the sound of it, however as I grew up the music developed more meaning for me. I started to understand what the lyric meant and the music was catchy, as well as, making you feel as you belonged. Pete Wentz has always been vocal about his anxiety and depression, which helped me out with mine because it showed how I was not alone, and even my idols had to go through hard times. My first concert my parents ever let me go to was in 2013, when Fall Out Boy had just come back from hiatus, and was performing at the Jingle Ball in Sacramento with Panic! at the Disco and other artists. Since then, I have been to all of Fall Out Boy’s summer tours. While my music taste has grown, I still mostly listen to variations of pop punk music, which many of the bands in today’s pop punk scene were inspired by Fall Out Boy and those
