Farewell Speech
A very good evening to our guest of honor, Mr Eddy, teachers and friends. First of all, let me take this opportunity to thank each and everyone of you for making this farewell party a success.
I am sure most of us have come here with mixed feelings. On the one hand, we are all happy that our form teacher, Mr Eddy, will be going on a promotion as the Senior Assistant to St Peter High School. On the other hand, we feel sad because today we will be saying farewell to one of our most dedicated teachers.

Let me now brief you all about Mr Eddy's contributions to our school. He was posted to this school in 1994. It was his second posting. Prior to this he taught in a rural school in Kansas. Mr Eddy is an excellent Physics teacher. There is a general consensus among his students, both past and present, that Mr Eddy is the best Physics teacher we have had in recent years. Many of us considered Physics as a boring and difficult subject. However, Mr Eddy has helped to change our mindset. He has also helped to increase the percentage of passes for the subject in the Toefl exam over the years.

Mr Eddy has also left his mark in other areas. As the teacher adviser of the Science Society, he has helped the society to win top prizes for science projects both at district and state levels.

As our form teacher, Mr Eddy has been a father figure to all of us. He always listens patiently to our problems and offers the best advice. He is not just another teacher. He was a friend when we were in need, an educationist who saw to our needs in our studies and a firm disciplinarian when we were wrong. Anyone who has problems will find it very therapeutic just listening to him talk.

Dear Mr Eddy, we appreciate all that you have done for us. We congratulate you on your well-deserved promotion but your going away will be a great loss to this school. We wish you all the best in your new appointment.

Thank you.

It has gone so incredibly fast. I can honestly say that I am going to miss this class. I am not going to miss the drive to Collinsville, though. I feel that I have grown a great bit while making my way through this Cross Cultural cluster. I never once dreaded having to work all day and then having to go to class and sit for four hours. My classmates are great. As a class, we always made it fun and entertaining. I do hope that I am blessed with having them in class with the rest of my journey seeking my bachelor’s degree. I have plenty of class left to conquer. Lastly, thank you, Professor Anderson! You made this cluster to be unlike any that I have experienced thus far. You made me feel comfortable from day one. I am a real big fan of your spontaneousness and flexibility. You could really feel your passion each night we met. You could tell you wanted to be there teaching us. Again, thank you. And, it would bring me great joy to have you again as my…

Throughout my short time here at Walden, I have taken so much from each of my courses in my journey as a Master’s candidate in Science Education. I have learned so much about reforming and editing my teaching philosophy and practice in my quest to become a more effective administrator. I cherish this last assignment, because in my mind it is such a celebratory time, that recognizes the effort and the work that went into the past seven weeks – and also really reflecting on what has transpired in my thought processes.…

Hi, my name is Chapin Benway and I would like to thank you all for coming to our 8th grade Continuation Ceremony. I am honored to be presenting to you tonight as one of the valedictorians of the 8th grade class at Homestake Peak. When I transferred to Minturn Middle School in 6th grade, I was very apprehensive about starting a new school where I didn’t know anyone. However, there was no need for me to be worried. All of the students and staff welcomed me and made me feel as if I had always been a part of the community. Throughout the past three years we have all formed close friendships and created many memories. Whether it was normal classes or various fieldwork expeditions, we all formed a bond through these experiences that is irreplaceable. As a class we have worked hard to prepare ourselves for high school. We all have accomplishments to be proud of, such as 2,000 hours of community service. We have worked hard to exemplify our community traits and keep our grades up. Even though some of us may be going to different high schools or even moving out of state, we will always be connected. I would like to thank my peers for giving me a great middle school experience.…

A lovely evening to all! Tonight I may say, to all of us seniors, let us congratulate ourselves for we all have been doing so great to make this tale of our lives as fulfilling as we want it and as adventurous as we make it. In four years of staying here in this institution, I may conclude that counting the wonderful moments that we shared in our high school days is a mind-boggling thing because even the depressing ones that we lived through contributed in helping us to become what we are today. Yes, even being “pasaways” in front of our teachers, all are considered factors that made this experience complete and of course, a perfect one. And if we are going to look at it, everything happened in a blast but, much unnoticed. When I made my first footsteps in this school in the early days of my freshman year, one thing I can’t forget is our innocent selves, just like a blind person who seeks the right path, looking for the white light behind the darkness of that innocence. By all means, we looked for the knowledge we need and we craved for the wisdom we must possess before we depart from this home, from this family. We were so curious about all the things that we encountered everyday but we did not know to whom we must hold on and how to distinguish right from wrong. And because of such blindness, receiving only the radiance of the twilight, some succeeded in knowing all the essential things to be remembered and to be understood by the heart but others got lost and failed to know the indispensable truth of life. We have encountered many things as high school students but still, our journey will not stop after this stage. And I’m very proud that we never lose hope when failures and disappointments come our way. We defended what we love, and fought for what we believed in. And as for you, the juniors, in a few more days, your job will be to continue the unfinished tasks we will leave behind as we sail in our respective ships to discover new oceans. In behalf of the…
