Fashion Design Personal Statement
Fashion is something we deal with everyday. Even people who say they do not care what they wear choose clothes every morning that say a lot about them and how they feel that day. Fashion never stops changing and also is believed to be a form of art. It is full of originality and filled with creativity. Every person is looking for modes how to express themselves and show their personality. Coco Chanel once said, “Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening.”
Those words made me realize that fashion is my lifestyle. I understood that my future career should be definitely related with it.

I have always wanted to work within the Fashion industry because it has always felt like the right direction for me to take. Everything started when I was in primary school as one of the most exciting things for me was to choose and combine clothes. Later I happened to become the winner of “The Most Stylish Person” at secondary school and after that I got into the list of the most fashionable youngsters in Lithuania. In 2009 I took lessons in graphic and fashion design drawing courses which lasted for two years. I am so happy about the experience which I got there. Even though during the first weeks it was quite difficult for me to create something new, what had not been seen before, to allot almost all my time for drawing models and reading about fashion, architecture and art, I did not lose my enthusiasm. Now I can see the results of those courses since my works are published in fashion and graphic art exhibitions, also I am working as a writer in web magazine “Fmag” (Fashion magazine). I am posting information about the newest fashion trends, new collections, designers life and photo sessions. Moreover, I belong to my school‘s debate‘s club and I am a part of organizing comittee (‘MBG Culture‘) which is responsible for cultural events such as exhibitions of

My love affair with fashion started years ago, but over these past 2 years it has grown into something so beautiful. Fashion made it’s grand entrance in my life when I was looking over a Chanel catalog along with a few other designers. For example; Vera Wang, Louis Vuitton, Christian Dior, Marc Jacobs, Phoebe Philo, and many more. The designs caught my eye and I was just mesmerized by it all. It literally took my breath away! I always told myself and my family that I will grow to be an amazing fashion designer and sell beautiful, elegant clothing known to man. A worldwide known designer.…

I am the perfect candidate for the Fashion Institute of technology because I am inquisitive; I am always craving more knowledge no matter what the topic - I am a leader, I enjoy coming up with fresh, new ideas and I am an intensely passionate person. Though, unlike many other FIT applicants, I haven’t always had a “passion for fashion”. Growing up, I wanted to be an Architectural engineer. It wasn’t until someone close to me gave me my first Michael Kors handbag my 8th grade year that I began to develop the passion I have now. Handling this bag was when realized my obsession with high-end fashion was only beginning. I was amazed at the production work put into making the merchandise. Of course the beauty of fashion is interesting, but what…

In The Wealth of Nations, Adam Smith made the classic observation that individuals acting in their own self-interest can benefit society more than they expect to. My predilection for fashion developed since I came to Singapore at the age of 16. I still remember the gigantic poster of Prada featured Sasha Pivovarova hanging over the shopping mall, so impressive I was even though I had little knowledge about high fashion. Nowadays, my attachment to fashion becomes an obsession. There are piles of Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar under my bed. I also surf on Style.com to access the free fashion updates. The TV series Mad Men leads me to appreciate the 60’s fashion style and develops a love for vintages. I believe FIT is the right place where aspiring young people pursue their dreams in the fashion world.…

This encomium, praising New York Fashion Week is one of the most well known events in the fashion industry. I have chosen fashion week to show my audience of inspiring designers as well as many opinionated “Vogue” readers and everyday people who crave high end fashion. It will show the dedication and hard work a designer much out forth in order to make not just a simple outfit but a mesmerizing and breathe taking design. An inspiring designer should be serious about their work and the industry, ones design can and will go along way when recognized. They will acknowledge the designer in his/her masterpiece and hope to soon have that fame and wealth. I ponder that the audience will admire the success of many unique designs and also fashion week. The audience will look up to the designs knowing that the days weeks, months and maybe years that go by, that one day those will be their designs and creations on the catwalk of New York Fashion Week.…

Fashion designers design through their own personal character and style. Everyone has a combination of multiple characteristics that make up their personality, style, views and thoughts, etc. A person’s own personal character cannot be duplicated. Anyone has the ability to show their talents through their own persona to many different types of industries. Having the ambition of becoming a high fashion designer is not impossible. Successful designers create designs through their own personal perception. People all over the world phony their personal temperament due to the media, advertisements, latest trends, etc. One cannot succeed as a designer if their character is an imposter, for which their designs will be criticized as “all ready been seen.” Claire McCardell had her own personal qualities that have inspired multiple trends here today. [As an adult, Claire states “it wasn’t me in the clothes, or just wearing them, that interested me—it was the clothes in relation to me—how changed I felt once in them” (Steele, p 9).]…

I am currently working on getting my cosmetology license from Millstream before I graduate high school. I am enjoying cosmetology classes; however, I do not want it to be my main job. Historically, fashion has always fascinated men in all human culture. Fashion, fads and trends are intertwined with human culture and civilization. The desire to look good and exceptional and to be acknowledged by others drives individuals to invent new fashions. Fashion can simply be defined as ‘’the cultural construction of the embodied identity’’ (Fashion Theory, 1). In everyday usage and for the purpose of this write-up, fashion is seen as the prevailing mode or style of dressing prevalent at any particular period in any given society. Fashion embraces all forms of self-fashioning that includes street styles and the so called high fashion created by high designers…

I began to realize not only is fashion and jewelry design an extension of my personality, it’s also one of the most expressive creative outlets in my mind. With that in mind, I became attracted to the “casual luxury” of plain clothing. I assumed having no labels all over my clothes meant I had a free pallet to create the full beauty that I envisioned in my mind. With the help of being enrolled into California College of the Arts, I can be guided into the right direction in the fashion industry.…
