In the 1980’s women had a variety of choices of style. Every woman had their own sense of style and no two women dressed exactly the same. They could choose outfits that “resembled their favorite models, singers, or bands which could range from glamorous to hip hop to even punk or rebellious” (“80’s Fashion”). Women would normally dress by how the wanted to be seen, so if she were to wear a sparkly outfit she would want to be seen as pretty or glamorous, and a workout outfit would be seen as a woman who works out. Women always wore clothes that had bright colors to make themselves stand out more. They usually were seen sporting “casual t-shirts under a designer jacket or a suit in white, pastel, and sometimes bright colors” (Jennings). They did however have a style that was inspired by their favorite musicians which included clothes such as parachute pants, leather pants, leather bomber jackets, slouchy oversized tops, and much more. Men also wore name brand clothing to show their status. As it was much more expensive and showed that they had money. If a man had long hair you would often see him with it massively teased. If he had shorter hair he usually had lots of gel in it to spike it
