Today, fashion magazines have become a necessity for many and that is all thanks to the magazine editor. The magazine editor goes through a long process to structure and create the finished product. Magazine editors have become iconic for their fashion sense. As said on

, “... [they] create an overall vision for what [their] publication will feature, then create story ideas and photo shoots that will present the clothing in the best possible way” (“Magazine
Editor”.) Fashion magazine editors are important to the fashion industry and needed to produce interesting editorials showcasing current trends and new designers.
To start, the career of fashion magazine editor has been around for almost 150 years and is continuing to evolve. In 1867 the fashion magazine
Harper’s Bazaar began in the United
States showcasing designers such as Charles Frederick Worth (Ward, Rachel K.,“History”). This marks the first fashion magazine starting in the US and the beginning of the career of a fashion magazine editor. In 1892 Arthur Baldwin Turnure founds
Vogue in America which will later become one of the most influential fashion magazines in history. In the year 1900 fashion magazines began to use photographs instead of illustrations. For the editors, this means that they must deal with a new way to structure the magazine. Today, there are hundreds of fashion magazines that have become an essential for many people. They provide info on the latest clothing trends and newest designers. Many fashion magazines have started doing online sites, so people may start to see more online issues in the future. Thus, as fashion magazines change, so will the jobs of the editor.
There are many people working in this career in different parts of the world today. There are currently 13,500 people employed as an editor in
