fast food essay
Fast Food Essay Many people who consume junk food are blaming the fast food restaurants for their obesity and the bad decisions they make when eating unhealthy food. Aren’t we responsible for our own choices? Or is it that the fast food industry is trying to make everyone fat? In the article, “The battle against fast food begins in the home” by Daniel Weintraub, explains how people are blaming big corporations like McDonalds and other fast food restaurants for the decisions they made by not eating healthy. Everyone should think twice before deciding to eat fast food. In the article the author disagrees with the fact that people are blaming the fast food restaurants for making them fat. I also disagree with that. Fast food restaurants do not force the clients to buy and eat their food. People themselves decide to do it. There are comments that people make, and say that the fast food restaurants should carry warning labels on their food. Like the ones for alcohol and tabacco. I don’t agree, people should know what is right or wrong, good or bad, healthy or unhealthy. It is their responsibility, to make the right choices when it comes to eating. People have no one to blame but themselves. We all make our own decisions, just like if we were buying a new car, or bike you wouldn’t blame the a car or bike manufacture for producing cars that go in excess of legal standards, right? That’s my point people cannot be blaming others for something their responsible of. People should start paying more attention on what their eating. The fast food is not properly taken care of, which leads all the way back to where the food is originally produced. Parents should be aware of this, and start taking action for their kids. The children from today are our future and by the way their eating, they might die ten years earlier than what the calculations are. Don’t be lazy and pick up fast food on your way home from work. Make the right choice and eat some vegetables. Set the right example for the kids from today.

When it comes to the topic of America’s social problems, most of us will readily agree that the obesity epidemic is one of the major problems in America’s society now. Where this agreement usually ends, however, is on the question of who is responsible for this problem. Whereas some are convinced “Don’t Blame the Eater”, that the fast-food industry is responsible, other maintains that is a personal responsibility and what you eat is your business. My feeling on the issue are mixed. I do support Radley Balko’s position that it is a personal responsibility “What you eat is you business”. However I find that Radley Balko has over looked some issue on the corporation’s side and I also agree with David Zinczenko’s argument that it is corporate responsibility.…

For many people, it is commonly known that eating fast food is not a good choice for the health and that it should not be a daily routine for everyday meal. Even though people do not see the specific nutrition fact labels in the restaurants, people already know that these meals from fast food restaurants are high in calories. Moreover, the children cannot prevent themselves from consuming these meals even if the restaurants provided the nutrition facts to them in the package because, unlike adults, most children cannot understand the information that is on the nutrition fact chart. Furthermore, even if they do understand, they do not realize the poor effect on their body from consuming exceeding calories daily. Therefore, the people who are most responsible are the children’s parents. Since the children are just young and, the parents are responsible for their child’s overweight because they decide what is good or bad for their children. They should control their kids from eating unhealthy food from the beginning. For example, they can cook their meals at home that are healthier with ingredients that contain good nutrition, and they also take their children to better restaurants that offer healthy meals.…

Putting the blame on the entire industry is shear stupidity. There is a myriad of information that shows just how unhealthy fast food is. Everyday there are new cases of overweight people because of their love for fast food. There have been many tests done, which are available to the public that expose what you are eating. One test that was personally performed sticks out more then anything else. A few years ago my eighth grade class took a McDonald’s McDouble, which is basically just a double cheeseburger on the dollar menu. The burger sat out for around one year (school year). At the end of the year, despite the burger being rock hard, it looked absolutely no different. There was no decomposition, or rotting smell. One simple…

America’s obesity can be an argument that has many sides to it. The one that is the most straightforward and logical is that us as americans are bringing this upon ourselves. We know the kinds of foods that are good and healthy along with the foods that are bad, fattening, and unhealthy. We try to blame fast food restaurants and grocery stores for serving us foods that are unhealthy. In reality, we know. We try to blame those companies because we don’t want to blame ourselves. As much as we are told what is good and bad for our bodies, we tend to ignore that and keep eating those unhealthy products. America is blaming the fast food industry for obesity, when in reality, it comes down…

Some people disagree that fast food is the cause of obesity and believe the real cause is the parents or blaming others for obesity. Yes, fast food is not the only cause of obesity, however, fast food restaurants are the leading cause of the obesity problem. There are numerous fast food restaurants that offer a variety of foods (e.g., burger, tacos, pizza). These fast food restaurants might have other foods to pick from; however, these foods are made of the same fattening ingredients, which is still obviously unhealthy. Most fast food ingredients contain fattening ingredients: saturated fat, carbohydrates, and more sugar than natural foods that are considered healthy. Because of these less healthy ingredients and the levels of fat and sugar…

I, personally blame consumers but in this case the parents are the one to be blamed since their children are not old enough to understand how fast food affects our health. People are able to make their own decisions in life and every decision should help us in a positive matter. Before we are able to make right choices, its our parents responsibility to teach us. Parents should be able to teach their children on how to make wise choices. Everyone chooses for themselves and the choices we make should reflect on our life style and well being.…

Obesity is a leading health complication resulting from long term consumption of fast food. Our bodies need several essential nutrients such as carbohydrates, protein, and vitamins to thrive. Fast food meal options contain detrimental ingredients that are harmful to your health. When you take a closer look you will find that most fast food options greatly exceed the recommended levels of fat and sugar intake. The only person that is responsible for this is the consumers, because they should know what they are intaking as well as buying. In an article in the Sacramento Bee, It’s Portion Distortion That makes America Fat by Shannon Brownlee, a mother who sued Mcdonald’s for her son who weighed 400 pounds stated, “I always believed Mcdonald’s food was healthy for my son”(2). This illustrates the ignorance amongst society. Many believe that all food is healthy, but in reality fast food is affecting health. It should be the person’s responsibility to maintain a healthy diet as well as healthy weight. Also, everyone should be informed about the consequences and nutritional labels that are labeled on unhealthy food. Government is also responsible for the obesity in teens, because they are the ones establishing more and more fast food restaurants. Restaurants are not placing enough restrictions on the type of food being sold. In addition, government interference is needed since business are not on the lookout for public health. In bad food? Tax It, and Subsidize Vegetables, Mark Bittman informs his readers about businesses seeking profit and disregarding health issues towards society. As long as businesses are making the profit they will refuse to be held accountable. They expect their customers to know what they are eating. Therefore, lawsuits against them are perceived as a lack of personal…

Some believe that while reasons of obesity are obvious due to the excessive amount of fast food restaurants surrounding us that it is the manufactures fault for the constant weight gain in America today but they fail to realize that it is not the food manufactures who force us to consume their food. People tend to blame the manufactures for the health issues today in America, but obesity is not something that needs to be addressed as a nation, it is more of a personal problem, food manufactures have not changed much throughout the years besides boosting their prices, and fast food branches may hand out toys and other objects that would appeal to adolescents but that does not put them at fault for the individuals who consume their food.…

The American obesity epidemic has long been blamed on the fast food industry. For decades convenience, advertising and affordability have all been the scapegoat for those who are unwilling to take responsibility for their own actions. I constantly wonder why we demonize the fast food industry without ever once scalding those who choose eat it by their own free will. Free will can be defined as a free and independent choice. Since no one is forcing us to eat what we know is unhealthy for us the reason why some still choose to do so can only be explained by free will. Therefore the fast food industry should not be…

Imagine for a moment that all of the nation's fast-food establishments were striped away overnight. Would the number of kids who carry an unhealthful amount of extra weight plummet? People think that by taking away fast food restaurants the number of obese would decrease. If that were the case then fast food companies and corporations would have to pay for lawsuits stemming from their products contributing to long term illnesses and obesity, but are they really to blame? The answer is no, fast food companies and corporations should NOT have to pay for lawsuits contributing to long term illnesses and obesity. This is because first of all, everyone is responsible for their own being and what they choose to consume,…
