Fast Food Nation Theme
Why is fast food so addictive? We know it’s bad for us but we can’t stop eating it. Fast food causes obesity which has been linked to many health risks such as heart disease. Why do people love it? It’s cheap, easy filling, and it’s convenient. The all American meal is hamburger, fries, and soda or shake. After reading this novel, I don’t think I want to eat another hamburger again because of what’s in it and what it will do to me, but I still love fresh fries. Fast Food Nation will open your eyes and might make you lose your appetite. People should really stop eating fast food because it’s bad for our health and it’s causing more number of obese people. Anyways, the major theme in this novel is watch what you eat or you’ll be obese. More than 300,000 people die every year because from being obese and overweight. An alarming number rate of children who are obese or overweight is increasing. Parents should really watch what they’re feeding their kids because nowadays, American children are overweight. We all know that fast food is quick and easy and working parents resort to it and you get a toy with your meal. Many kids are at risk for health problems like diabetes, asthma, and heart disease. “…noticed that an unusual number of children were being admitted with bloody diarrhea” (Schlosser 198). If you care about the children, fast food needs to stop advertising the toys, stop with the sales, and should just close down. It’s for the best of all of our health. Do you know what’s really in your food? Fast food is delicious because of the salt, sugar, and fat that’s in it. Today, most foods are made in factories, frozen and processed. Most of their ingredients are covered with oil and it’s highly processed. Back in the old days, hamburgers were made from beef from a cow. Fast food buys their meat from local suppliers so fewer cattle were used
