Fast Foods: Face Facts
Fast Foods - Face Facts
Everyone should think twice before deciding to eat fast food. There are many health risks when it comes to eating food that’s made in a matter of seconds. Even if it is easy to buy and cheap, the health risks outweigh the five minutes of satisfaction that fast food can brings. It is important that you should carefully think before you eat fast food.
The health risks that come from eating a lot of fast food are life threatening. Fast food is mostly made from saturated fats and lot calories and if it isn’t worked off then you can grow to become obese. Obesity isn’t the only risk as heart disease could also appear. When you eat all of the fats, sugars, and salts, your heart can grow weak and it will endanger you in the near future. There is no safe risk when it comes to eating fast food.
When we eat fast foods we don’t think about how the food is brought to us. What most people don’t know is the conditions that these animals are living in before they are killed. Cows are being hung upside down and pigs and chickens are cramped in enclosed spaces. What can come from those living conditions? Bacteria can enter our foods and infect it while we don’t even know.
However fast food is one of the easiest and cheapest ways of eating. It saves a lot of time especially for people who have children and work. It is obvious that there is no quicker or better way to satisfy your rumbling stomach. But then what exactly is the price to pay once you have eaten your food? Bacteria, infection and diseases, anyone one of these can be from your family. Most of these bacteria are found in the food you eat from your local fast food shop. Eating at one of these places can cost thousands of dollars in hospital bills, all because of an unaware family and a diseased burger.
Everyone should think twice before deciding to eat fast food. The health risks aren’t worth your life and the animals that live in death house aren’t treated properly or hygienically before their death which can cause many food illnesses to your “fresh” burger. It is important to eat healthy and make good choices when deciding what to put in your body. Don’t be lazy and pick up fast food on your way home from work. Make the right choice and eat some vegetables and fruits.

In the nonfiction text, Chew on This: Everything You Don’t Want to Know About Fast Food, Eric Schlosser, the author, explains the effects of fast food restaurants on the small town of Martinsburg, West Virginia. Surprisingly, some effects were good, but others were not so good. The new fast food restaurants made Martinsburg turn from a quiet town, into a large, busy town. Though fast food restaurants provide a lot of jobs, it does not pay much. Fast food restaurants often mistreat their animals, but they do use real meat, sometimes. McNuggets from McDonald’s are approximately 50% real meat, and 50% fats, preservatives, sugar, sodium, and carbohydrates, but fast food products are starting to get healthier. These arguments show the upsides and…

It’s clear that the general public is ignoring the health risks of eating fast food, because Americans are still relaying on these giant corporations to satisfy their hunger. The health consequences of eating these foods include higher cholesterol, higher blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease and obesity. Additionally, fast food doesn’t provide basic of balanced nutrition. It lacks essential vitamins and mineral, fiber, and antioxidants. The consumer simply interacts with a plastic sign, a cash register, a plastic tray and an unmotivated dude with a headset in a ridiculous uniform.…

A study published in a 2005 issue of "Lancet" analyzed the effect of fast food consumption on weight and insulin resistance. The study included more than 3,000 participants over 15 years. It discovered that participants who ate fast food meals more than twice a week gained about 4.5 kg and were twice more resistant to insulin.…
