undecided on which career that I would like to pursue. My career goals include finding a job where there is a solid work-life balance or a flexible work schedule. Work-life balance or a flexible schedule is important to me because I have career goals outside of just working in an office for the rest of my career. Outside of the office, a career goal of mine long-term is to become an entrepreneur by starting an investment firm that specializes in residential real estate, but eventually becomes diversified with dealings in areas like commercial real estate and venture capital.
By participating in the Cooperative Education Program with Fastenal, it would aid me in achieving both my educational and career goals.
It would help me reach my educational goals because I believe that working at Fastenal is a prestigious opportunity where I could decide on a specific career path. Fastenal offers a great opportunity to me because it would allow me to continue to focus on my studies and at the same time offering valuable experience in the business world working at a company with an international presence as well as allowing me to experience different aspects of the business so that I am able to get a feel for what career I would like to pursue. Participating in the program also interests me because I intend to pursue a career at Fastenal after graduation, also the Cooperative Education Program with Fastenal offers a tremendous opportunity to gain real-world experience, thus it offers the opportunity to explore roles at Fastenal that I could envision myself working in after graduation. Lastly, it allows the opportunity to gain remarkable real-world experience while continuing to remain dedicated to my …show more content…

Ambition has played an important role in my life and I plan to continue to be ambitious. Three years ago, I chose to go to Winona State which is over four hours away from where I am from and prior to arriving in Winona I knew no one here. Going back to high school, I took every advanced class that I could to prepare for the rigors of college coursework. I have a history of being ambitious and I find it important to continue to challenge myself in healthy ways.
In middle school, I took advanced algebra II (normally, is a class for juniors in high school), but was offered to just eleven of the eighth graders including myself. A grade of an A or B was required in the course to gain credit. As the course ended, the only grade left was the semester test and my grade was a dangerously low B. On the final day of class, we were to take the semester test and the teacher would grade it on the spot and figure it in to our class grade to show us our final grade. I ended up getting a sixty two percent on the semester test which was not even close enough for the teacher to give me a B in the course. Most of us knew each other and had similar class schedules, so everyone was asking each other what they ended up getting in the course and it turns out that I was the only one who had not passed the class. Failing a class in eighth grade was almost unheard of, so at first I told myself I could just lie and say that I passed the class and no one would know. In the end, I told everyone who asked that I had not passed the class because if I would have lied it would have been a serious detriment to my character as well as my integrity.
As mentioned above, one of my long-term career goals is to start my own investment firm where eventually the firm will be involved with venture capital. I would like to be involved with venture capital eventually because I want to be ahead of everyone searching for the next great idea and innovation is important to me because I am always trying to develop the next great idea or technology myself. To me, innovation is always important in all aspects of life because to grow, often one must accept new ideas.
Teamwork has played an important part in my life so far because I believe that in every group, roles need to be defined, understood, and played properly by everyone involved.
I have experienced teamwork in a multitude of ways. I have been the leader of a group whether it is just being “the voice” for a school group, overseeing employees at work, and even leading my high school soccer team as the captain. I also understand playing smaller roles like when working on a project in school and someone is more knowledgeable than I am, I will let them take the leading role or even when I played basketball and came off the bench I understood that my job was not to be the
star.
