Fastpitch is more than a team, it is a family. In or out of the field, everyone knows how to connect with one another. Despite that the fastpitch lost many seniors last year, the underclassmen have stepped it up to fill in those spots.Freshman Megan Bellusci says “ a little bit nerve racking, but it is a lot of fun, and I can look up to anyone to help me out if I have questions.” Everyone is super supportive with one another, even if they lose or win. Sophomore Lauren Rassmessen says “ we build each other up, work together very well, we are all good friends, and even before a game we keep each other pumped up.” The Fastpitch team has created an amazing bond with one another. They have two enthusastic co captains, Shelby Starkovich, and Emily
Allen. As captains they are the head of the team and make sure everyone is on there A game. Senior Emily Allen says “ I make sure everyone accomplishes their goals during a game, and the team is not worried to let other teammates down.” As well as being a captain is more than telling others what to do, but it is about creating new friends or memories with old ones. Senior Shelby Starkovich says “ we take care of anything that the team needs, also we are helpful on answering questions for anyone who doesn’t feel sure of something. Coach Swapp has influenced each athlete in every way. Junior, Aubrey Costanza says “during a practice he makes us feel positive, he’s more than a coach because me and I know others to be a better person.” To a winning or losing, the team dinners, fastpitch has connected as a family. Junior Rachel Stout says “with every win it’s just one step closer to state, even if we do lose it just makes us work harder.”
