EXPLANATION:Baby mother has died young so Baby’s only family member is Jules, but Jules is also a kid himself as well and he is only in his twenty’s. Sometimes it’s Baby taking care of Jules, not Jules taking care of Baby. This increases Baby’s level of independence, maturity and she relies less on Jules. This gets her prepared when she is taken to a foster home, while Jules gets his lung treated in the hospital.

CONTENT: Baby gets yelled by her father, Jules and runs out to the streets crying. She meets Theo that threatened her days before. He sits down on the sidewalk with Baby and comforts her.

EXPLANATION: This is foreshadowing the time when Baby later meets the pimp, Alphonse, who is really mean to her in the beginning, but then he suddenly shows affection towards Baby because he wants her to work for him. Baby eventually he falls for him and becomes a prostitute.
CONTENT: After Baby figures that Jules is not coming to get her out of the foster home within the first week like she wants him to, she deeply misses Jules and wonders if he is ever going to come back for her.
