A mother for a long time is the most important person in every person's life. She provides care, milk, and love at immense levels. Without a mother, a human would not be able to survive their infancy. However, within this play, the mother has remained this caring figure for her family all the way into their adulthood. Throughout their travels, Ma is always there to support them. She never fails to help them through problems or support them when they’re struggling in a situation. She never fails to have something constructive or important to say to her family. In the end of the story, her son has to leave in order to support her family and she accepts it and lets him go. You can tell throughout the story that Ma has the most love out of anyone. Her love is not only what keeps herself going, but everyone else as well. Without Ma’s love throughout the story, this family probably would have given up very early. However, her powerful love and care kept this family pushing through all the adversity. At the end of the story, she proved her love for Tom by letting him leave for the better good of their family. However, it was painfully hard for her because of how much she loved Tom. It is easy to tell throughout the story the love this woman possesses. She is constantly supporting her family and giving advice and providing for them. Her love went beyond her own needs.
