Franklin Delano Roosevelt Essay Franklin D. Roosevelt, our 32nd president, was considered to be on of the best presidents because he saved America from disaster. He came into office after President Hoover with a big mess on his desk which was the great depression. Roosevelt promised Americans a New Deal which would help them come out of the great depression and turn America around. Roosevelt is considered a hero for three main things he did. He never forgot the forgotten man, he created the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), Federal Housing Administration (FHA), The Social Security Administration (SSA), and he saved the country from disaster. Franklin D. Roosevelt handled the forgotten man by giving us many opportunities to work. The forgotten man was a man who was poor and who needed the money but were not getting. During the great depression most Americans had no job and no place to live. Many men left there families and the city and went city hopping to find jobs and no one was taking them. The unemployment rate rose up to 25%. Roosevelt came up with the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) which put young men aged 18 to 25 to work building roads, developing parks, planting trees, and helping in soil erosion and flood control projects. Roosevelt established the Civil Works Administration which provided 4 million immediate jobs in the winter. In the end of all of these employment projects created jobs for Americans. 2.3 to 3.3 million Americans ended up with a job and the forgotten man was no longer forgotten. FDR established 3 main administrations that helped Americans and that we still use today. The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) protected bank deposits up to 5,000. The FDIC helped regulate investment activities by having check ups on the bank to make sure they were not losing any money.
