What is fear? is it the unconscious barrier that limits our thoughts, our desires? Perhaps it's the minds way of preventing itself from doing something irrational. However, fear is irrational. It can only control you as long as your mind is incapable of rationalizing and realizing that it does not exist- and is only a figment of our imaginations.
Fear molds our reality, limiting and constructing it to fears own will, and demanding allegiance, fueled by the idea that it cannot be controlled and hence- cannot fade away. Now lets take a moment and think about that statement, whether your fears sprout from an old childhood memory or are just products of over thinking the concept of spiders, clowns, darkness etc. The only grasp a fear has on you is the one you give it.
Your'e probably thinking "you make it sound so easy" or "you don't know what it's like" in fact, it's completely normal to feel like that specific fear has you constrained in its little cobweb of doubt and negativity. But surely that swell of panic and inability to form a coherent thought when facing one serves a purpose? it might not sound worthwhile, but it is. Why? for the experience. Because the only thing more powerful than a phobia is the knowledge that -after standing nose-to-nose against one- it will provide you with a life changing feeling that will last you a lifetime.
Finally. you may be wondering what fuels up this magic recipe for courage, and the answer is simple; your goal. What is it that you're willing to do anything for? maybe its the realization that against all odds and second guessing, you made it. Or the lingering dream that's been waiting at the end of that finish line since your childhood. Regardless of what it is, it's an inspiration that shines against the dark murky cloud of self-limitation.
Basically, i believe that all fears stem from the same root; control, oblivion, the thought that no matter what you do there will always be an uncontrolled factor swimming about threatening to make an appearance. But it can be fought, and the battle can be won.

The family built the fence to protect themselves but it only ended up hurting them. The family’s fear ended up destroying them. Throughout my life,…

When it comes to control, fear, in most cases, is the best mechanism. In order to avoid fear, someone will more willingly do what is asked of them, than do what is considered wrong. Fear is often used as a form of punishment in order to achieve outstanding control. It is used so diversely because it has such an effective outcome. Think about it, everyone is scared of something aren’t they. Individuals use this method as a way of reducing the masses into confined boundaries and strict regimes. A perfect example of this can be plucked from the novel ‘1984’ where a small torturous room named 101 was used to achieve conformity. The ministry of love affectively used room 101 to prevent people from committing treason against the government by bringing intense fear upon a subject to force there confession. This scheme worked as it induced fear amongst the citizens as stories circulated throughout society, stating peoples worst fears were realised in that room. This tactic was very manipulative as it changed people’s minds over time, forcing them to succumb to conformity. Aaronson, Jones and Rutherford, who were counter INGSOC protagonists, were captured by the government and forced to face room 101. They were exposed to such concentrated fear through torture that eventually they surrender their minds and are brainwashed into accepting INGSOC’s way of life. After their release, society saw them reduced to nothing which then caused a larger spread of fear as they didn’t want to go through the same pain. So with the right technique, fear can be used to keep people inline and allow individuals to easily control large groups without using physical force.…

What is fear? Everyone has experienced some level fear before, may it be when they realized they have done something wrong, when they kept seeing that one creepy guy down the street just standing outside their door, while sitting at home at twelve o’clock in the morning watching a horror film, or encountering their one or many phobias. When fear hits, the body will start to feel as if it is frozen, breathing becomes difficult, the heart races and batters to the point where it feels like it will burst from their chest. So, just what in the world does the word fear truly mean? Well based on my own experiences with fear, I believe that it is the feeling of extreme anxiety or horror towards an object, a person, a place, an event in time, or a scene played before someone’s eyes; which in turn causes the rate of one’s heart to race, and breathing to accelerate.…
