When in class one day I found out that I was not the only one afraid of speaking in front of a lot of people. “The fear of public speaking is the most common fear and prevents many people from achieving their potential”; therefore public speaking is actually very common (Sisson). So why do we fear to speak in public? For me I feel as if I were speaking a different language I don’t even understand my own words, and I fear that people will judge me. Scientist have spent decades trying to figure out why people stress when presented upon public speaking. They came to conclude that “When people are judging you, and how you perform, you are almost guaranteed to have a stress reaction. Judgmentalism is a mainstay of most public speaking conditions; people are afraid of being evaluated and looking like a fool” (Beilock). For me that’s the main reason, judgmentalism. I don’t like looking like a fool in front of people, especially if the judges are people who usually see me as a strong and collected individual. “Acting in the face of fear will never be easy, but afterward you’ll be glad you did it”(Covey 119). Some say that overcoming your fear relives you from their chains. What we can do to overcome our fears can be doing what we fear; being a fool. “For instance, if you spent time each week
